(TW- Talks about killing, Putting prices on lives)
"Remus-..." Roman started the second he saw they were nearing the city gates. Remus just groaned as he spun around till he was walking backward and stuck his tongue out at his brother.
"I know. I know. When we get to the guild, I have to wait two streets down while you get our coins." Remus recited with an almost bored look. Roman growled making Remus falter with an understanding look. "Roman-..."
"This is serious, Remus-..."
"Roman, I know." The two came to a stop as Remus took Roman's arm with a sad look in his eyes. "I know the protocol, Ro. I know why it's important. I don't like it but I understand it." Roman made a soft purring growl that Remus just laughed at before nudging his brother lightly with a smile. "I love you too. Now come on. The sooner we get this done the better it will be for the both of us."
"Remember, give me two hours before you even set foot on the guild's land." Roman mumbled as he recheck his main bag to make sure he had everything he may need. The two had wasted no time getting into the city and walking straight to the guild stopping only one for Remus to wait for Roman to go ahead. Remus hated seeing the fear that clung so tightly to Roman's eyes. It was there the second they stepped foot into the city and felt just how much demonic presence was there. The malice was thick, coating the whole city in its bog. Remus could practically see how Roman's hands trembled just the slightest amount making it all the more difficult to leave him for even a moment. "I'm getting our coin, trading as much as I can, and getting any information available before coming right back here ok?"
"Two hours. Got it." Roman's eyes flashed, the subtlest of red shining as the sun seemed to beam down on them. His whole body seemed to slow down making Remus notice the panic seeping into his brother's expression. "I'm gonna be ok."
"Two streets... no further." Remus nodded seeing how serious his brother was. He understood, however. The two could telepathically communicate with each other, however after a certain amount of distance their thoughts won't reach. Which means if their too far away from each other neither will hear each other's thoughts. And that was a scary thought, considering they haven't been separated since that night.
"I'm going to be ok." Roman gave a sad growl, making Remus sigh as he knew the sound well. "I promise if anything happens I WILL tell you. Nothing is going to happen to me."
"Ok." Roman forced himself to take a deep breath before fixing his bag strap and nodding to his brother. "Two hours."
"Two hours." Remus repeated watching as Roman started down the street. It wasn't usually this bad. It was at the beginning, which made sense. When everything had first happened, Roman wouldn't let Remus out of his sight. They both stayed close avoiding everyone and everything until Roman finally started going into small towns. He wouldn't let Remus follow him in however until he was sure Remus could protect himself and wasn't going to be attacked the second he walked in. Remus always loved how protective his brother was of him. He just hated how scared his brother was. It wasn't a good idea for them to have come here... not for Roman anyway.
But then again... Roman's never cared about himself.
Roman stared up at the building before him, holding back the growl that wanted to tear through his lips. In a big city like this the guild got a ton of financial support, resulting in lavish ornamental architecture that a guild with a sole purpose of murder and the eradication of an entire people really should not have. Didn't change the fact that Roman was a part of that very guild... and in fact, was one of the best.
The door swung open making the large crystals light up with a very discordant chime, that despite its hellfull sound, made many of the patrons light up. Roman's eyes darkened as he just glared at the crystals that buzzed and glowed brighter upon his passing. A soft deep chuckle sounded drawing the hunter's attention to a man behind a counter who just beamed as Roman made his way over.
"You know, I've seen those crystals go off when hunters came back from bloody battles that left whole towns covered in such residual energy, and yet they've never gone off as loud as they do with you." The man teased only making Roman's eyes darken, as he already started looking through his papers. "The residual energy you just never seem to lose... You must a very busy man."
"I do my job. That's all." The man just laughed as he pulled a paper out of the stack checking it over before grabbing a key and going into this back room. Roman could feel the aura of the place like a thousand needles pricking into the back of his neck. He utterly hated when he had to be in these damned buildings.
"Here we go." The man called as he walked back over with a black pouch. "2 gold, 400 silver, and 60 copper." Roman frowned in confusion as he took the pouch and looked inside to indeed see so many.
"I only killed Vampires."
"Yes, but the reward for children are higher. Even for commons such as Vamps. Not to mention you wiped out a coven, that alone is a pretty penny." Roman just rolled his eyes as he pocketed the pouch, reminding himself once again to not let Remus hear about just how much everything would be monetary. He did not want his brother figuring out just what jobs he had simply by counting the reward. "Also, some of that came from the talisman you sent in a month ago. The reward finally went through so..."
"That makes sense. Hey..." Roman gestured to his bag as he looked around at all the people that filled the place. "Your merchant in or..."
"Harold? Yeah, he's out back. Why? You got some goods to sell?"
"Just some things we came across on our travels. You should know how my visits tend to be at this point." The man just laughed as he nodded and opened the gate letting Roman in the back despite that not really being allowed. Roman was such a well-known hunter he got away with a lot and was allowed many liberties that most hunters weren't given.
"Hey, when are you gonna bring that brother of yours, hm?" Roman tensed up as the man just slapped his back playfully. "We all know about him... that twin of yours but you never bring him round. Has anyone ever actually seen him?"
"Sure they have..." Roman growled as the man walked ahead to find Harold. "it's just never a hunter." Roman whispered to himself, his eyes flashing a bit red under his golden red hair. "Not if I can help it anyway."
