Chapter 8

3 weeks later.....

Things have been going really well with me staying at the Walters house, I think I've finally found somewhere I belong, there's no sign of them sending me back anytime soon. At school Isabella is basically my best friend and at home I always have Nathan to talk to and occasionally Lee, we sort of understand what each others going through with his parents not being massively involved in his life either. I told Isabella about Cole fixing my father's necklace the next day, "Oh God, Leah is not going to be happy about him paying so much attention to you," "Who's Leah?" I asked. She then proceeded to tell me how Leah and Cole have had an on off relationship for the past year, but they break up at least once a week and get back together usually the next day. I couldn't believe he had a girlfriend, I don't know why he never brought her up to me or why I never seen her round the house. After that though I noticed that he continued to stare and smile at me. I thought he was flirting at times but he must've just been being friendly, I don't want to get on the wrong side of whoever Leah is, from what Isabella said she isn't someone to mess with.

It was a Saturday so once I got my chores done I went back up to my room, I wanted to get all of my homework done and out of the way so I could do something enjoyable tomorrow since its going to be my birthday. I was about half way through the mountain of assignments that were due this week when I heard a knock at my door, "Come in!" I shouted. I seen him there, wearing his usual big smile, "I was thinking about taking some of the horses up to the lake to give them some exercise, do you wanna tag along?" He asked me, I know I shouldn't, I have too much to do and he has a girlfriend, but there was part of me that really wanted to go, fuck it, "Sure I've never ridden before so your gonna have to show me how, give me 5 minutes to get ready," "Ok, I'll go get the horses ready to go, I'll meet you outside." He closed my door and I collapsed on my bed, what was I thinking, I can't go with him, he has a girlfriend for crying out loud. I called Isabella she immediately answered, "Isabella I need your help right now, are Cole and Leah together right now," "No they had a huge fight last week, why what are you going to do," she responded, "I'll explain everything to you later I promise, thank you," I hung up the phone and started immediately getting ready.

I raced down the stairs and out the door, then I realised what I was doing, I was about to ride a horse infant of Cole Walter. What was I thinking I've never ridden a horse in my life I don't have a clue what to do. As I turned the corner to go into the barn I seen him standing there with 2 horses tacked up and ready to go, "Ready?" He asked, "Fair warning I have no clue what I'm doing," he laughed and brought some steps over to one of the horses, "Don't worry, I'll be right beside you the whole time. This is Custard she's my favourite, you'll be safe on her, I promise." I let out a small laugh, "I named her when I was really young," He laughed. He held his hand out and helped me up onto Custard, she was so beautiful but also very big, you only live once I guess.
