"The struggles I'm facing

The chances I'm taking

Sometimes might knock me down, but

No, I'm not breaking

I may not know it

But these are the moments, that

I'm gonna remember most, yeah

Just gotta keep going"

I thought that keeping it a secret that Rita was my mother was a good idea. But I also thought the same thing about Ivan when I first got here. How was I supposed to tell them, though? It was already hard enough telling them about Ivan and now I needed to come clean about Rita? Adam was right... sometimes we don't luck out in the parent department. I really didn't luck out at all.

It was already bad enough having a terrible father, and now I have a terrible mother too? What did I ever do to deserve this? I stayed quiet as I joined the others down on the platform. Zordon had called all of us here because he wanted to talk to us about something.

I sat down on the floor with my arms resting on top of my knees. Aisha sat next to me with her legs crossed underneath her. Adam was to my right, crouched down with his gaze up at Zordon. Tommy leaned against one of the control panels, with Kimberly at his side, resting her head on his shoulder. Rocky and Billy stood front and center with their arms crossed over their chests.

We all patiently awaited to hear what Zordon had to say. He didn't seem panicked like before when Rita and Zedd were attacking, but it didn't make me any less nervous about why he called us here. I've learned that Zordon has never had a casual conversation since I've been here. He always goes straight to business.

"I'm afraid I have detected the reasoning behind Zedd and Rita's return to Earth." Zordon says.

"Does it have something to do with the energy surge we've been detecting all over the globe?" Billy asks.

"Yes."

"What energy surge?" Rocky asks.

"The last few days, six energy surges have spiked in six different areas. I've been monitoring them closely to figure out what they are, but something is telling me that Zordon knows exactly what they are." Billy says.

"What are they?" Adam asks.

"Six powerful crystals that have been broken apart to protect their energy. Separate, they cannot do any harm, but together, they hold a power so great that if fallen into the wrong hands... could be incredibly disastrous." Zordon explains.

"Rita and Zedd are going to go after these crystals, aren't they?" Aisha asks.

"I'm afraid so."

"We won't let that happen. Can't we just go collect the crystals and bring them back here for safekeeping?" Tommy asks.

"Having the crystals in our hands right now only makes us a bigger target for Rita and Zedd."

"Why?" Kim asks.

"We have better odds of keeping the crystals from conjoining until the time is right. We don't know what Zedd and Rita are planning just yet, but we have to stay ahead of the game. Now that we are aware of the crystals surfacing, we can continue to monitor their energy readings."

"We'll do everything we can to make sure those crystals don't fall into the wrong hands." Tommy nods.

"It is up to you rangers to continue making sure the world is safe."

"May the power always protect you." I smile.

I wished Dulcea were here, because I know she would be in full agreement with Zordon. Those two are more alike than I'd imagined, and sometimes hearing Zordon talk was like hearing her too.

"But never rely on the power to make what is wrong right again." Zordon finishes.

"Dulcea always used to tell me that when I was feeling uncertain of things or afraid." I say.

"Dulcea was a clever woman." Zordon says.

"Do you think that one day, we will ever see her again?" I ask.

"I know in my mind that we will reunite with the Great Warrior of Phaedos." Zordon says.

I feel at ease hearing that.

"I know it is not a good idea for me to be joining this battle," I say, "But this is my fight too and they can't do this on their own."

"And the time will come when you can assist them, but as we've discussed before, it's better that you remain here." Zordon says.

"I know you're right," I nod, "But they should also know the truth too."

I stand up and turn to face the group. I thought I would feel nervous as I prepared to tell them the truth, just like before, but it actually felt relieving to tell them. They didn't judge me the last time or turn against me, so why would they now?

I've spent enough time with them now to know that they haven't held anything over my head.

"What is it?" Aisha asks.

"I wasn't thrilled to learn of this, but Rita Repulsa is my mother." I admit.

The room falls silent for a moment, but I can always count on Kimberly to make me feel better in the moment.

"Sometimes we can choose our own family," Kim smiles, "And you have one here that will aways be there for you."

"Thanks." I smile.

"We're in this together." Billy nods.

I reach my arm out with my palm facing the ground and wait for the group to gather around. Adam is the first to place his hand on time of mine. Followed by Aisha, Rocky, Billy, Kim, and Tommy.

"May the power always protect you!" We all shout.

Ivan Ooze's destruction didn't mark the end of our journey. It was only starting, and we all had one goal. Keep Angel Grove and the planet of Earth safe.

I, Faedra Ooze, solemnly vow to make sure this planet remains a place that people can call a home.
