characters: pete, goose, carol, baby bradshaw

Pete tapped his foot, anxiously looking around. A woman walked across the waiting, briskly pushing an older man in a rickety wheelchair. The attendants at the front desk typed on their computers quietly. Everything was so still and calm. The elevator door opened with a creak, which caught his attention. He had been waiting for 2 hours in this room.

Waiting for Goose to come through that elevator. He was finally there. He was grinning from ear to ear, wearing light blue hospital scrubs, he was holding the hat in his hand, his spiky hair was all messed up, but he didn't care.

Pete practically flung out of the chair, recollecting himself as he quickly walked over to him. He wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans quickly. He got up to him, "What is it?" He asked quietly but excitedly. Goose was still grinning, "Boy." He answered, proud as can be.

Pete did an excited air punch in the air. Goose led him to the elevator.

On the delivery floor, it was quiet, plenty of nurses rushed about but it was quiet overall. They passed by a nursery, there were bassinets layed about in the room. In every cradle, lay a little baby. Pink and blue blankets wrapped up tightly around them. Pete put his hand on the window looking in, he turned to Goose, "Is he here?" He asked, referring to the nursery. He shook his head and motioned down the hallway further.

Goose opened a door on the side, letting Pete go in first. Pete walked quietly into the room, he finally saw a hospital bed around the corner of the curtain in the room. He hesitated, waiting for Goose to take the lead, unsure what it would look like on the other side.

Goose opened the curtain further to the side, revealing a grinning Carol laying on the bed, holding her little boy.

Pete smiled and approached her. She smiled, outstretching her hand to him. he took it and walked closer. Goose walked over to them, Carol handed him the bundle. Goose held him close, adjusting the blanket to see his face better. Pete looked at him, admiring the baby's face. Goose smiled, he wiped a tear as he gently placed the baby in Pete's arms.

Pete held the baby, terrified to move. Carol laughed, "He's not as breakable as he seems. He's tough like his daddy." she said with a giggle.

Goose glanced at her, she nodded at him. Goose cleared his throat, "Meet Bradley James Bradshaw!" He said excitedly, as he wiped yet another tear from his face.

Pete gasped in disbelief. Still shocked his best friend was a dad now. Goose walked over to Carole and put his hand on her shoulder.

Bradley shifted in the blanket and began to cry, Pete got nervous and tried to hand the baby back, but in doing so, the baby quieted. Pete didn't know what he did, but it was good, I guess?

"See? He already loves his uncle Mav!" Carole said with a smile. Pete relaxed a bit.

"I promise to be the best uncle ever buddy." He whispered to the baby.
