6 - Inevitable Duel

I realized that I spoiled that there's going to be a fight with the ending note last chapter, so I decided to just be lazy with the title. Yes, there's a fight. Yes, I'm being lazy with the title. Regardless, I'm a little proud of how this came out the oven that is my brain.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka POV

After Zhongli helped me with something, I went to bed for the day. I was filled with an unwavering feeling of dread. I couldn't figure it out before sleep eventually took me, but I had a surprise in the morning.

'So he completed it.' I noted to myself. Zhongli is a pretty fast worker, which isn't a surprise at all. He's a very reliable guy, at least I assume so. It'd be great if I could, at the very least, be allies with him, if not...

Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before I went to the Golden House, I wanted to finish my preparations. It'll probably take the whole day, but I don't think they're forcing me to go immediately anyway, so it should be fine.

Another day passed rather quickly, as I woke up early in the morning. I stretched out my limbs, got my Millelith uniform on, and headed towards the Golden House. In a few minutes, I was able to see the Golden House for myself in its full glory. It looked like a traditional Chinese house with a golden color over its roof tiles. It was a lot bigger than your average house, probably closer to a mansion.

Some Millelith guards were, as their names suggests, 'guarding' the outside. I suppose that wasn't very funny, although it isn't much of a joke at all. I tried to walk in before being stopped by them.

"Hey, don't come in here with such a suspicious bag!"

Huh? Oh, he's referring to the bag in which I keep all my tools. Well, I could make a joke which might be slightly offensive in my old world, but I won't do that. Instead, I'll keep my mouth shut. In fact, I may even have to run away in the worst case scenario. If they steal this bag, a lot of progress could be lost.

Before I was about to take off, someone intervened, thankfully. "Excuse me, are you Kiyotaka?" A feminine voice came from behind me, which I didn't catch somehow.

"Yes, and you are...?"

I looked behind me to see a girl with violet colored hair that extended to her waist separated in the twin tails style. What captivated me most were her unique amethyst eyes which had a complex pattern that drew me in. Her clothes were much fancier than most, clad in a dress with purple and white themes. It's to be noted that she had an electro vision.

"I'm Keqing, the Yuheng of the Seven Qixing. I was sent to explain your orders, so let's make this quick. Guards, let us inside."

As their superior, they had to allow us to go in, so I followed behind her closely. The inside of the Golden House was more beautiful and even more enchanting than the outside. It was incredible, especially with the giant mounds of Mora. As we walked, she started to explain.

"As you know, Liyue has been going through turmoil recently, as a result of the death of Rex Lapis. You might also know about the Exuvia, however, very little know about where its located."

As a reminder, the Exuvia is the form of Rex Lapis as he takes during the Rite of Descension. The reason why this is important because he 'died' in this form, although it's almost confirmed to me that he's still alive.

"The reason why this is important is because the gnosis is located in its body, and we know that the Fatui are after it. Your job is to protect it."

"Hm? Then wouldn't it be better for me not to know?" I asked. "There could be some sort of rat here."
