Really went deep to find a title like that, I know. Don't get mad at the ending, just be chill.
Ayanokouji Kiyotaka POV
"So that's what happened..." Lumine took a second to process everything. I told her about what happened while I was in the Golden House, and about the Qixing.
"Yeah, I wouldn't say it's all bad. I learned some lessons in there."
While I wouldn't say any of them are particularly meaningful, I feel a bit more confident in my abilities now. I knew the full extent of my skills before, but not nearly as much in Teyvat. I realized that with my fight with Childe. He overpowered me immensely, but tactics still worked on him.
"I see. I feel a little pissed that the Qixing used you as a sacrifice. I don't know how I didn't figure it out..." Lumine sighed. I don't think she had nearly enough information, especially with Ningguang steering her in the direction she wanted.
"Other than that, you're really impressive, Kiyotaka." Lumine continued. "I kind of expected you to win, but it sounds unreal how you did it."
"Why would you expect me to win?" I asked. "I feel like I was the underdog in that fight."
Lumine raised her finger to her chin. "That's true... I don't know, actually. I just don't really expect you to lose. It's like you're always in control of the situation."
I couldn't imagine how she came to that conclusion, especially since we met while I was bleeding from a throwing knife. Even then, I can't imagine myself losing either. It wasn't a matter of arrogance or even a gross overestimate, but just the amount of time I've been here. I've learned enough to win, and I'll just continue doing so.
Maybe I shouldn't act so overconfident. It's a massive death flag. Pride comes before the fall, right?
"Anyways, my mind is a bit more clear now. After this is all over, I'll tell you something."
We were still running towards the ocean before we saw the Jade Chamber fly overhead. It seems like they saw us, since they stopped momentarily to pick us up.
"Over there! There are floating steps leading up to the Jade Chamber!" Paimon exclaimed. "We gotta go quick!"
Easy for her to say since she's literally floating up there. I just got out of a life or death situation to be put into another one. Not only that, they don't even have an elevator. I haven't wished for the luxury of modern times as much as I have now.
We went up after a minute of swift climbing, and nearly dying numerous times. I didn't have any powers that'd save me from the fall down. When we made it up, the Jade Chamber flew towards the ocean once more. I could see everything more clearly now.
Osial, the ancient god, was a giant sea serpent, writhing around in the ocean. The city of Liyue Harbor, darkened by the looming clouds of rain. It was a truly spectacular view, like some sort of fairytale story.
"Wait, is that Xiao? And the adepti?"
Paimon points towards the central group of people. The adepti were there, but also the Qixing. Ningguang, Ganyu, and Keqing were there, but surprisingly also Madame Ping. I didn't really expect her to be there, although she is still an adepti. She just didn't seem suited for combat.
"Traveller, you're here." Ningguang commented. "I knew you'd be here on time."
Keqing looked over at me, before smiling briefly. Maybe she, like Lumine, expected me to win against Childe. I wasn't going to ask.
"Wait, I thought you guys and the adepti were arguing? What happened?" Lumine asked.
"Faced with a calamity of such magnitude, we decided to put our differences aside and unite against a common enemy." Ningguang explained. The adepti didn't seem too happy to team up with the Qixing, but I don't think they have a choice.
