Ana gazed at the infuriated Den, her mind cursing Shiv silently. It would have been better if he had left quietly, but no, the great SSO had to trouble her.
As she cursed Shiv and pondered how to console the angry Den, her conscience mocked her, ‘Perhaps she didn't truly despise his audacious kiss’ causing her to resent her consci for bluntly confronting her truth.
Before she could argue with her conscience and defend herself, her eyes fell on Den, who now stood inches apart from her, glaring with folded arms. She recognized that look, one she rarely witnessed.
'Oh, crap,' cursed her brain. If dealing with Den in brother mode was tough, handling his furious father mode was a serious threat to her paradise.
“No, no no” saying she waved her hand in front as Den tried to open his mouth and throw her questions
"Before you ask, let me explain. How about you sit there and listen to me without interruption while I walk you through everything?" She suggested, throwing a nervous smile his way.
As she spoke, she noticed him raising his brows and settling onto the couch, a signal that he was ready to hear her out.
Releasing a thankful sigh she started from the beginning right from their encounter in the meeting to signing the deal which he already knows and all their encounter.
Upon finishing her explanation, she searched Den's expression for any reaction, but he remained calmly seated, his gaze fixed on nothing in particular. His tranquil demeanor stirred worry within her.
"Den," she timidly called out, breaking his trance. She wished for a reaction, even if it meant curses or yelling—anything other than his silent response.
To add to her disappointment he stood up and asked
“Is Ansh asleep?”
“Umm, umm…” her words failed, her expression clearly depicted her sadness
“Yeah, he’s, upstairs sleeping with Mali” saying she threw him a small smile to which he nodded his head
"Mali is staying here?" came his robotic, monotone voice.
“Umm, yeah”
“Good”
‘Good, that's it’, her brain yelled in frustration. Den's terse responses were exasperating; it felt as if he were intentionally avoiding saying anything to her.
“I, I go see Ansh” saying he turned his back to her.
Ana was shocked, taken aback by his demeanor; The hurt in his eyes was apparent, and she sensed that it wasn't about her decision to let the Oberoi in or her encounter with Shiv. Something deeper was bothering him, something he couldn't bring himself to articulate.
She realized that everything had been overwhelming for him, and, truth be told, it was a lot for her to process too. She could clearly see he needed time to process everything, but all she wished for was for him to say something, a comforting hug, anything other than the cold treatment
