I looked over to see where Ted was, and he wasn't there. "Where's Ted?!" I asked Schlatt quickly. Schlatt immediately whipped his head around. "WHAT" he yelled as he looked over.
He wildly looked all around until he spotted Ted hunched over, examining the entrance. "Ted, don't scare us like that!" Schlatt yelled over to him as he started stalking over to him. Ted turned around to see an angry Schlatt quickly approaching, and he stood up straight again.
Ted braced himself for impact once Schlatt got within a few feet of him. Once Ted was within arms reach of Schlatt, he reached out and grabbed Ted by the shoulders and shook him, much like he shook me before.
"The fuck is wrong with you? Why would you just disappear?" Schlatt practically yelled at the poor guy. "I didn't disappear; I just moved—" Ted tried to speak, but Schlatt cut him off. "I can't keep you safe if I don't know where you are!" He yelled as he stopped shaking Ted, but his grip on his shoulders tightened.
I couldn't see it from where I was, but based on the disturbed look on Ted's face, I assumed that Schlatt's face held an expression of somewhat worry and care. Schlatt sighed and put his head down, shaking it the slightest bit.
"Ted, you're a bitch." Schlatt said as he looked back up at Ted before taking a hand off his shoulder and using it to flick his forehead. "OW!" Ted said as he brought his hand to his forehead.
"Meh heh" Schlatt said as he let go of Ted's shoulders and walked out of the building, shoving Ted with his shoulder. Ted glared at Schlatt as he left, flipping him off behind his back.
Ted walked over to me as he rubbed his forehead before crossing his arms. "He's caring one moment, and then he's a bitch the next." Ted rolls his eyes. "That's Schlatt for ya." I say as I nod my head with a sigh.
We sat in silence for a little while before we started making simple conversation, mostly me asking what we were going to do once we met up with the other survivors.
After a few minutes of conversation, Schlatt came sauntering back into the building and walked up to us. Me and Ted finished up what we were saying before looking over to Schlatt, who looked like he wanted to say something.
We turned to him, and he just looked between us for a second without speaking. He was just staring at us. I was about to ask him if he was going to say anything, but he started speaking before I could.
"So what the fuck do you think trapped the infected? And how the hell do you think they got in?" Schlatt asked as he crossed his arms. Both of us were definitely wondering the same thing but didn't want to voice it.
After a few seconds of silence, Ted spoke up. "They could've gotten in through a hole in the wall or something." Ted said with a shrug. "The barricade might not have been strong enough." I also shrugged. "Maybe," Schlatt said.
After talking about it for a little, we started to make breakfast. We talked about it as we ate some breakfast before deciding we should get moving. We packed everything up and got ready to face the harsh world.
We stepped out of the building and began our journey again.
