We'd been traveling at a pretty steady pace and did manage to make it to the outskirts of the city at about noon. That's something I'm really happy I learned— telling time with the sun, that is. It's come in handy quite a lot. And then Charlie found a watch so I didn't need to do as much, but I still did it when I didn't want to bother asking him.

We all celebrated when we made it to the 'Now leaving Kartmag City' sign. "YEEAAAHHH!! BYE BYE CITY!!" Schlatt whooped. "WOOO!!" Charlie yelled pumped his fist in the air. "YEAHH!!" I yelled along with them, happily matching their energy.

We celebrated and high-fived for about a minute longer before we calmed down and decided to stop for now and have lunch. We sat down under the sign and chatted amongst ourselves about what we were going to eat.

We eventually decided to just have some beef jerky and dried fruit. It wasn't the best but, hey, it was still food.

I handed out our rations for lunch before sitting back down. I looked over to see Schlatt setting his bag down and opening it before gently lifting something from it.

"Schlatt, I know you love him but-" I started speaking but he cut me off. "NO!" was all he said as he held the cat gently in his arms.

"It's okay, Jambo. Just ignore that dipshit," he spoke softly to his cat as he pet him gently.

I just watched in silence as he ate some of his rations, giving more than he probably should to Jambo, while talking to him softly. He's been doing this for a while now and I'm starting to worry for him a little. He hasn't taken off his suit jacket in a while and I've noticed that it's starting to hang on him a little too loosely.

I know Charlie knows he's feeding Jambo, but I'm not sure if he realizes that Schlatt is close to malnourishing himself for his cat.

I sighed quietly as I went back to eating my rations and looked over to Charlie as he ate his rations before looking away from him and zoning out. After I came back, I looked over to see Schlatt setting Jambo back in the bag.

Jambo made himself comfortable in the bag again and Schlatt just left the bag open because, and I'm quoting Schlatt on this, he likes looking at the sky.

~•3rd person: Author•~

The trio started walking again, Jambo safe in Schlatt's bag. "I really don't know why Ted is so against me keeping him. Sure, it's hard to find food for him, sure I feed him my rations. And sure, it's maybe sort of definitely taking a toll on my body, but it's for Jambo! I love Jambo, I'll do whatever I gotta to keep him alive." Schlatt was thinking to himself. (Pardon the interruption but IM LITERALLY GOING TO START TWEAKING SPOTIFY WONT STOP PLAYING THE SAME FUCKING ADD IM GONNA RRRRRRRRRRRR)

"Whatever, he can't do shit or I'll beat him so hard he won't be able to form coherent thoughts. WOAH, HAHAHAHAHA! Just kidding! He's my friend! I'd only beat him a little...." Schlatt shook those thoughts away, they weren't healthy (OH HES THINKING ABOUT HEALTHY NOW???).

They walked for a bit, the forest slowly getting a little denser. Ted get his compass out to make sure they didn't get lost in the forest on their way through the forest, Charlie admired the vegetation while still being aware of his surroundings, and Schlatt just kind of... Schlatted? I don't know what he does if I'm being honest with y'all. WAIT, NO, I BROKE THE FOURTH WALL IM SO SORRY-

After Author came back from timeout, the trio was able to continue in the forest without too much trouble. Just walking and chatting with each other.

They were all pretty chill for a while but then Ted felt like something was watching him, which made a lot of sense, I mean, they're in a forest. But then Schlatt started to feel that way too, then even Charlie felt it, and Charlie is fucking clueless most of the time.

They all looked at each other, understanding they were all feeling the same thing and confirming they should arm themselves. All of them grabbing out their respective weapons and shutting up as they slowed to a stop.

They looked around anxiously as they waited to see if something came at them. Charlie gripped his axe tightly and rather close to his body, Yed had his bat ready to swing, and Schlatt looked ready to knock someone's head off, his hard glare sweeping over the surrounding area.

Their heads all whipped to the sudden rustling off plants, tensing up as they waited for whatever it was to attack.

A large figure elegantly appeared out of the brush, taking a few long strides into the clearing before pausing once seeing the trio. When the person didn't attack them, they slowly eased a little while still being suspicious of this person.

"Word of advice, don't uhh, don't go that way," the stranger said blandly as he pointed in the direction he just came from while sheathing his bloodied sword. "Y'all need any potions? Potatoes? I've got potatoes."

Charlie got an amused look on his face as soon as potatoes were mentioned, Ted cocked an eyebrow at the offer of potions, and Schlatt's expression remained untrusting.

"Hell fucking yeah, dude! Hook me up with some potatoes!" Charlie said as he lowered his axe and approached the stranger, being stopped by Ted grabbing his arm. When Charlie looked back at Ted, Ted just shook his head lightly.

"But... he could be my potato bro..." Charlie protested, which earned something that was most likely a grunt of amusement from the stranger. "See! He agrees!" Charlie said with a grin as Ted hesitantly let go of Charlie.

Ted watched as Charlie got closer to the large stranger that towered over him and extended a hand, which was met with a potato. "FUCK YEAH!" Charlie said as he held up the potato like it was a trophy. Charlie's enthusiasm made Ted snicker silently and even managed to break Schlatt's scowl, his features showing only slight amusement.

The stranger huffed lightly before giving Charlie another potato, which was met with the same excitement. The stranger kept handing the eager slime potatoes until he couldn't hold anymore and started dropping them, making him exclaim in despair, before he tries to pick them up and just ends up dropping more.

Schlatt finally has enough and comes over to Charlie, grabs the potatoes off the ground, and shoves them in his bag. "No more fucking tatoes, Charlie!" Schlatt pokes the side of his head while Charlie laughs with his huge, cheeky grin.

The three split the potatoes into their bags before Charlie turns back to the stranger, who had been silently observing their antics, and speaks to him dramatically. "Thank you, good man, for the tatoes!" Charlie expressed as he gestured to the imposing figure, which was met with a curt nod.

Charlie gave the stranger a thumbs up the entire time he started walking around the three, leaving the area without a word as the other two watched.

They were all silent after he left before Ted spoke. "Well... he was... interesting?" Schlatt agreed as Clarke started rambling about how cool it was that they came across another person and how he was nice enough to give him potatoes. Apparently he was very happy about having a 'potato bro'.
