Eren felt his eyes flutter open slightly as a low hanging light appeared above his body. Narrowing his eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness he slowly moved his head left and right to take in his surroundings. Green wallpaper with a shimmering gold detail littered the walls of the spacious room.
To his side was a large wooden desk, with intricate carvings wrapped along the legs. He took note of the papers, glass bottles, and tools that were scattered around its surface—As if someone had used the space recently.
So I'm in infirmary?...
Turning slightly to the right he found a bookcase stuffed in the corner of the room. The colors of what Eren assumed to be medical books were vibrant—Each cover was decorated beautifully. His eyes narrowed as he tried to read the words printed on their exterior, but once his vision had cleared he realized that the text was written in an unfamiliar language.
Letting out a small groan he lifted himself from the bed he occupied as he ran his hand down his face, feeling the bandages that were currently wrapped around his head. He sucked in a breath as he shifted around too quickly, causing a stinging pain to take over his left side. Glancing down he lifted up the material that was placed on him as he observed the bruise that covered his skin.
The redness of the marking had his face pulled up as he tossed the cover back down. Before he could make out anything else the sound of the door opening in the corner of the room had his head turning in curiosity. He kept his eyes on the two figures that made their way in, before pushing back against the bedding in a defensive manner.
"Who are you? And what am I doing here?" He questioned in a rough tone.
The two strangers were taken back when they heard him speak out—Unaware that he had awoken they barged into the room without taking in account how he would react to their sudden presence.
Taking a moment to settle into the room, Eren watched as the one on the right began to speak, "I'm Marco Bodt, a soldier in the Queen's guard", The man answered easily with his fist positioned along his chest. Eren didn't bother to react as he drifted his eyes to the other figure who appeared less respectful in his stance.
"Connie Springer", The stranger waved lazily, "Soldier in the Queen's guard."
Eren remained silent as he took in their names and statuses, giving Marco the chance to speak once more, "You survived the expedition, I offer you my congratulations' ', He applauded with a wide, sincere smile, "Our visit was brought on by the Queen. She wishes to see you", He further explained, "Fortunately, it looks like we got here at the right time."
"The Queen?" Eren quizzed, his eyes narrowing with doubt, "What would she want with me?"
"Your guess is as good as ours", Connie chuckled. He now leaned against the door with a bored expression as Marco let out a sigh from his blatant disregard for protocol.
"She just ordered us to retrieve you", Marco excused, "We have no other information at this time."
Eren kept his attention on the two men, shifting his gaze between the both of them with calculating eyes—Trying to depict whether they were being deceitful or not. With his silent investigation, he took notice of their clothing, observing their drastically different attire.
The soldier named Marco wore a heavy coat around his shoulders, despite the warm weather. Beneath the jacket were multiple layers of clothing, hidden beneath the straps of his armor. Every piece was an array of blues, grays and white that paired well with his lighter skin tone and dark hair.
