ESCAPADE

CHAPTER FOUR

  " Charlotte am tired, I feel like am living with monsters who will try to devour me at any slight moment",  "you have to calm down they are still your family , sorry cos I never knew that josh was that type of guy he was always quiet moreover you are his elder sister ",  maurey exhaled, hot tears streamed down face " since he knew we aren't related by blood, he has always made his moves what irritates me the more is he no longer consider me older, Charlotte I want to come over there". Charlotte raised voice was heard  at the other end of the line," no maurey you can't come to New York",  maurey wipes her tears" I will, and I promise to work my butts off if it's what's required of  me".

           
            "What's up girl, u have been quite busy these days", josh said to maurey who was googling with her laptop giving him a wry smile," you noticed, that's good", took a seat at edge of maurey's bed "you know I could always help". Maurey kept her laptop on the bed eyes filled with amusement ,"really!, Can you lend me some money", josh hesitated before nodding his head " how much?", Giving him one of her killer smile"$2000". There was silence for few minutes before josh said," ok, I have $1000 saved in my piggy bank, will be getting the rest from  mum or dad".

         
       "Josh , your  dad would be mad at you if he hear this", let out a loud sigh " that's why I told you mum , I just want you to lend me, i promise to payback", mrs thorne gave  in, after all   josh was her real son" I will give it tomorrow after I must have delivered this  cabbages", hugs her from behind" you are the best".
          

         Dinner was served, maurey helped her mum take the fried chicken to the dinning, Mr Thorne and Josh was already at the table, taking the picker she put chicken in their food and took her seat. They ate in silence  until Mr Thorne broke the silent " maurey, it's  time to let you know that you're getting married soon, our guest from the other night can't get his mind off you" , maurey reaction wasn't what they expected she was calm, " dad this isn't nice, that man equals your age and moreover am not in a haste to marry", smiling widely which was what maurey disgust about her dad he always smiles as if it was nothing "my dear always know that we want the best for you ", " enough!", everyone turned to stare at josh  who seem angry , pushing his seat back he left.

    " Here", josh gave her some stack of money, she hugged him, " thanks alot, thought you wouldn't keep to your words", nodding quietly something wasn't off about him "what's the problem she inquired , " I took some money from dad's cupboard, but are you giving in to what they said tonight ", taking his hands "josh there's something you should know we might not be blood related but I love you like a sibling , even though I have my plans of not getting married to that old man i don't want to raise your hopes too", snatching his hands from hers," I don't need your lecture am not a kid , get some sleep hope the money you requested for it's for a good purpose.
