Peter's POV:

Bang!

I heard the shot go off before I could dodge it. My Spider senses kicked on too late. I fell off my web with a grunt and I watched Simon get away. I slammed a fist into the ground, agitating my wound. I winced as my hand flew to my side to cradle the burning flesh. My spider senses then went off, and just in time, I dodged. I dodged a bullet. Literally. I turned to look behind me, and my eyes landed on the figures of several Roxxon guards. "Okay guys. Was there a party no one told me about?" I quipped. It seemed though, that they had no sense of humor. I quirked my head to the side as they raised their guns at me. "Ohhhh. I see what this is. But before we begin, I have to tell you something." They paused and actually tilted their heads. I shrugged and took the opportunity. "I forgot the chips." Guard 1 gasped, "No man. You can't show up to the party without chips." The guard beside him, guard 2, shook his head. "It was a joke. Spider-Man made a lame joke." I gasped dramatically, agitating my side further. "Excuse me? My joke is not lame." I widened my stance to prepare for a fight. "Well, give me your best shot." Pun intended

Miles' POV:
I basked in the warmth of Ms. Y/n's hug. She sniffled as she held on to me, making me feel as if she never wanted to let go. If that was how she felt, then I felt the same. As soon as she pulled away, I felt cold again, and my mind wandered back into a dark place. "If only I killed him then and there." I thought to myself. He was right where I wanted him, trembling in fear beneath my feet. "Hey. Kid." I looked up from my hands and focused on Ms. Y/n. "You can stop calling me Ms. Y/n. It's just Y/n." I nodded my head at her. Though I never intended on listening to her. 'Cuz, that would just be weird. "So..." I needed to say something to get out of my thoughts. "What's... the plan?" She handed me her phone and pointed to something on the screen. It looked like a 3D map of New York City. "See this location here?" She asked as she pointed. I nodded. "That's the main control center. More commonly known as 'Roxxon Plaza'." My face hardened at the name of the building. I think I liked 'main control center'. "So, if we take that out and the last building on our list, Krieger can't do anything, then that's when we get him." I nodded again, not really knowing what to say. "But... we might need some hostages."

"So... you do like to kidnap? Or I guess it's called abducting if it's an adult?" She looked at me with a what did you just say? face. It was kind of terrifying. "No! I just do what I have to do. Who told you that?" I looked down and played with my fingers.

"Pe - Spider-Man did." I whispered. Positive she wasn't going to hear me.

"Well, Undies always jumps to accusations fast." I refrained from snickering. It wasn't even like the name was... clever. No, I burst out laughing. "Why are you laughing kid?" She asked, with a hint of annoyance in her voice. I clutched my stomach, unable to breathe. "It's just - the name - I." I could not get a sentence out, even in between laughs.

"What? Undies?" I laughed a bit harder. If that was even possible. It felt weird to laugh. Seeing as I hadn't laughed since...

*Flashback*

Miles had lost the will to fight or speak. He felt nothing as they dragged him to different rooms and experimented on him. But something changed that day. Something triggered his senses, which had been dormant for so long. The guards brought him to a room and made him kneel on the floor. "You're here for one reason today." Simon's voice echoed in his ears. Miles knew better than to look at him. "I think I've discovered your weakness, buddy." Miles flinched but remained silent. "Look up." Simon urged him. Miles lifted his eyes reluctantly. He felt a surge of horror as he saw his father's face. Miles' blood froze as he met his father's fearless gaze. "This is your father, right?" Miles clenched his teeth at the sight of his father's body. "Why are you doing this!?" He shouted at Simon. "You've taken enough!" He was overcome by fear of losing his father, after losing Phin and his uncle. Driven by that fear, he lunged at Simon. But he was easily restrained because of his weakened state.

"I don't think I have, though. You're still defiant." Simon grabbed an electric baton and approached Miles' father. "DON'T! I'll do anything!" Miles felt tears stream down his face. Simon ignored him and struck. Miles watched in agony as his father was beaten repeatedly. "STOP!" He screamed. "I'll do anything."

"Oh, you will after this."

"NO!"

*End of Flashback*

... Since... I stopped laughing at the nickname and stood up. "Hey, you okay?" Ms. Y/n asked me, standing as well.

"Simon went from a civil monster, to doing things himself." I murmured. It was true. Then I turned and yelled at no one in particular. "If only I had killed him! If only I had fought back..." Tears leaked from my eyes and tangled in the rain that had just began to fall. Ms. Y/n looked at me with sad sympathy. "Sometimes. I feel the same Miles."
