Sydney didn't realise how much she had missed Sliver Falls as her and her mom drove home from the airport, she had the window open letting the wind blow in her hair, the breeze was different from Florida, it was home, they talked about school starting and how Sydney needed to buckle down to get the grades she needed if she wanted to go to an Ivy League school like her older brother, Sawyer, that she couldn't skip any more classes, less parties, more studying, no boys and more extra credit. For the last 2 months Sydney had been more care free with life, especially school and her extracurricular activities. Her parents were glad she was finally living a little but she'd always be with friends after school, different parties at the weekends, her sister, Sage, gossiping to her mom about who Sydney was seeing and all the boys that liked her, they grew a little worried that's why her mom planned a trip for just the two of them so Sydney could get the last of it out of her system. I wonder if it has worked?
They pulled into the driveway where her dad, Sage, Spencer and there 2 border collies, Chocolate and Oreo, were waiting for them. They all exchanged hugs and kisses, helping them with their bags, Sydney decided to unpack while the family went next door to the Walter's for the traditional end of summer bbq, Sydney promised she'd go over after she'd unpacked, showered and changed but maybe the real reason was because she was avoiding a certain someone.
She was walking through the Walter front door when Kathrine practically jumped on her squeezing all the air out of her lungs telling her how she missed her, how beautiful she looks, how her hair is lighter and longer, how she looked sun kissed, pulling her into the garden to gossip all about 'the hoilday, the food, the shopping and the boyyss' in Kathrines words. Everyone was happy to see her, the boys bantering with her, Parker and Benny playing football with her, which she wasn't the best at, they ate burgers and drank lemonade with the music on until the sun was setting. She had missed this, she had missed them all, watching them all singing together, laughing and telling jokes, the only thing missing was him, no one had mentioned him and neither did she.
Where was Cole and why was everyone pretending like he didn't exist?
