EVIE FINISHED HER SHIFT at the hospital feeling more complete than she had in a while. She had to stitch a cut on a woman's arm from a logging accident, relocate a man's shoulder after he overexerted himself and dislocated it, and checked a toddler for a fever before it was even noon.

She finished her lunch quickly in order to leave quicker.

"What's got you in such a hurry?" Olive teased as she ate her chicken and rice across from Evie.

Evie finished her ham sandwich and answered, "I'm not in a hurry."

"You just ate your lunch in less than five minutes. I could call that hurrying." The younger girl chuckled.

Evie simply took a swing from her water bottle before getting up to throw her trash in the bin across the room.

"It's that boy, isn't it?" Evie turned around to face Olive, who was still sat at the table.

"That boy?" The taller girl questioned, already knowing the answer.

"The winner of the Hunger Games, Treech. You meeting him again?" Olive gave her a knowing look before setting her fork down.

Evie tried to hide the flush of her face, "Well, I just... I have to— You know..."

Olive laughed before waving a hand at her, "Go on, I'm just teasing."

Evie managed a small smile before turning back around and walked out the door, "Tell me all about it tomorrow!" She heard the blonde girl call after her.

She made her way to the cubby in the back of the hospital, grabbing her backpack with her extra clothes and essentials inside.

She pushed up the main door, only to be greeted with the sight of a shorter boy.

"Hello, gorgeous." Alder flirted as he leaned an elbow on her doorway, raising his eyebrows to make a point.

"Alder?" Evie was not expecting to see the blonde teenager.

"The one and only." He winked as Evie tried to refrain from laughing at his attempt to woo her.

She glanced behind him to see Treech and Terrance rolling their eyes and huffing in irritation.

"Why is he here?" She asked over his shoulder, directing her question to the brothers.

"He caught us leaving this morning." Treech sighed, "We couldn't get him to leave us alone."

"Especially not when I knew they were coming to see you." Alder attempted to move closer to the taller girl.

Evie hummed before ruffling the blonde's hair and sidestepping him to make her way towards the brothers.
