the small things.

I remember the small things,
The way you walked the hallways,
Your voice as you sang your song,
I remember the small things.

The way you talked about a perfect life,
ways you could escape, the life you had,
I remember the small things,
Especially when you stopped smiling.

The day you showed me your pain,
When you decide to lift up your sleeves,
How you hated being here,
I remember the small things.

I remember the day that you left,
Despite hating the life you had,
You made another, a better one.
The smile returned back on your face.

The sleeves were never worn again,
You sang your song once more,
This time you had a little one to adore,
You created life that was worth more.

Despite all the obstacles in your path,
I would remember all of them,
How you turned your life into something more.
