The Ninth Training Ground was a beautiful place.

It was a lush, flat meadow that went for miles and split the forest of into three parts, with the flatland raising towards the small hills that originated the calm lake that flowed through the place.

These varied surroundings, thick foliage cover and no shortage of vantage points made this land perfect for their Genin assessment.

Saryn calmly stood almost at the apex of an old redwood's canopy. Joined by Hinata, the pair were working overtime to get eyes on their target.

Kurenai had given the team a recon and destroy mission as their assessment;Find and locate their target, confirm said target. And retrieve the scroll/or neutralize the threat...Seemed straightforward enough to the four, who split in teams of two to cover more ground. With her being a sensory-type,it allowed them to take the high side, with Kiba and Shino sweeping the floor to weed her out.

"Got anything?" She watched the pale-eyed princess strain her Byakugan to its limit, searching all across their half of the forest and the small decoy tree houses that were sporadically planted throughout the woods..

She shook her head in the negative.

"Damn, lets try the next half of the forest."

Eventually her eyes had begun to strain, leaving them to slide back down the meter-high tree. They disappeared into the forest, tree jumping to reach the other side of the clearing.

"Time check?" She heard the barks of the Inuzuka's dog coming up on their rear, and the two slowed their speed to allow them to catch up...

"08:37"

And was promptly knocked on her ass, colliding with Hinata as they flew out the greenery, flattening a few sunflowers as they slid onto the woodless side of land.

Saryn wanted to kick herself, eyeing her teammate who was supposed to be searching for their elusive teacher, who dropped the henge to reveal themselves grinning with mischief.

Quickly she stood, turning to Hinata with wide eyes,"get the others!" The Hyuuga disappeared into the bushes without pause.Saryn turned back around, only for her hair to whip across her eyes, courtesy of a foot to the face.

"Ok...maybe I shouldn't have stopped searching for you."The stinging sensation made her realize what a mistake that was.

Kurenai only stared as she wiped her nose, tensing as she reached into her kimono...Then the Kaguya was already running at her, forcing her to draw a kunai to block the short bone blade poised to stab her.

It was with the smallest of margins she was able to block a slash that was a bit too accurate for her liking.

The kid kept attacking, and each time Kurenai would punish her for each misstep. Her own missteps,as the jōnin dramatically lowered her speed to match their current pace.

What the ash-head had not been prepared for was her senseis free hand to lash out, seizing the wrist of the hand holding her bone blade as she slid into her guard.

Before she could react to her movements she was elbowed in the face, causing her to drop her weapon.

Luckily,Hinata returned with the others just as her blade hit the ground. There was no time to celebrate however,as her arm was quickly flipped behind and above her, causing her to act as a buffer between the three as she kept her arm perfectly straight.

'Foolish move' Saryn quickly focused chakra into her elbow, propeling the bones there enough to pierce the jonin's hand. She was not given a chance to dwell on the pain as a shove moved her to the ground.
