Chapter VII: Invitation to talk

Kim Seokjin spent his entire childhood living on the streets with his father. He can't remember if they ever had a real home at all. Just as he can't remember how his mother looked like. He grew up with nothing and learned to survive on his own. Of course, his father tried his best to protect him. But it wasn't easy considering his hardships to get a decent job. However, every few months the man would appear looking freshly washed and with money.

- I brought something special for you, son

- Special?

- Here! Happy birthday!

Jin got his first birthday present at 17 years old without knowing where his father got the money from. It was a cute fluffy toy he called RJ. It made him feel like the child inside finally got something. Presents like these happened every few months. His father would show up with more food or a new blanket.

- Dad...Where do you get the money for this?

- Hmm business

- More specific?

- Look son, there's people out there that might seem evil monsters but really aren't. People that will pay a good price for our "help".

Jin had no idea what he was talking about back then. Who would blame him? To imagine his father was selling his blood to a clan of vampires wasn't even close to his craziest idea. Ever since his father started doing that, he looked happier. But almost at the same time, he also got thinner, with black circles under his eyes and a lot less energy. Sometimes it was for doing "business" too often. But there was something else happening...
Last time he got to talk to his father Jin was 19 years old.

- Son... I'm sorry I couldn't give you everything you deserve

- You're talking like you invented capitalism. You're doing your best and you protect me from everything so there's nothing to regret

His father smiled sadly before giving him one last hug. Jin never heard of him again. He looked for him everywhere and the last place he visited was a mansion where he used to do "business". As soon as he pronounced his father's name, the men in that place called their leader. An old man that gave Jin what his father always wanted for him. A second chance...

Jin opens his eyes and sits up before touching his neck where that mark of fangs is clear. He sighs being a little sad because of his memories but thankful of the final result nonetheless. He works through part of the night until he gets the text he's been waiting for.

Yoongi Boongi
He lives in Busan.

Seokjin
We'll leave as soon as possible.

Yoongi Boongi
Can I bring someone?

Seokjin
If it's Taehyung don't worry. He's coming whether he wants it or not. I'm not leaving him here unsupervised

Yoongi Boongi
Ok. But I meant someone else...

Seokjin
...sure?

The oldest vampire is taken aback but agrees. He had no idea Yoongi has other friends outside of them. Not to be mean but he's the kind to stay locked in his room or at work. With no time to lose, he gets the train tickets to head out to Busan. He puts on some makeup to cover the marks on his neck and leaves the house to buy everything he needs not only for the trip but also for the clan to be taken care of while they're gone.

At the supermarket he gets a big cart to fill it up as he shops. Suddenly, a deep voice coming from behind him makes him stop.

- Hey! You're the cute guy from the other night!

Jin turns around only to see once more the hottest man alive showing the most eye catching dimple smile he's ever seen. The man walks up to him and only then Jin can see there's a child holding the man's hand next to him.

- I'm Namjoon. But you can call me whatever you want, honestly

- Should you really flirt with your son next to you?

- Son? Ah! He's my...nephew!

It's hard to explain the amount of "brothers" and "nephews" Namjoon has considering he's a part of a big pack.

- Oh...Well, in that case you can call me Jin

The vampire isn't used to flirting or even talking to humans without using hypnosis. But this one has his full attention. Still, he doesn't wanna be too obvious in front of a child so he tries to simply give a warm smile.

- Uncle Joon, can we buy medicine for mommy?

Namjoon looks away. The kid's parents aren't sick. They're going through heat. It's one of the disadvantages of being a wolf. Before he can answer, he sees Jin take some things from his cart and give them to the child.

- Here sweetie, take this!

Jin gives him some of the things he was buying explaining all the good effects they have on a human's body. From food to medicine he lists all the benefits each have. Namjoon is surprised at first until he remembers he was the same person asking for blood donations.

- Are you a doctor, Jin?

- Hmm? I wish! My best friend is. I just...I got used to taking care of sick people.

All the times he had to take care of his father and the ones helping out his leader ended up teaching him a lot about it. And of course he got even better since he met Yoongi. While the child gets distracted in the toys section, the two adults keep their conversation

- You know I'm dying to ask you out on a date right now, Jin

- Really? For knowing basic things about nutrition? That's a low bar

- Hahahaha for many reasons. I won't be in the city for a while but...if you ever wanna talk...

Namjoon hands him a little paper and Jin looks away with blushed cheeks as he saves it in his pocket.

- Do you always give your number to complete strangers, Namjoon?

- Only if they're both hot and kind

- I don't think "hot" is enough to describe the way I look. Try something else next time. I'll text back only if you make me feel like a king

He's half joking half being honest and the man in front of him laughs his ass off hearing him.

- Whatever you say, worldwide handsome

Seokjin smiles satisfied. He's not sure if he'll ever have the time to talk to Namjoon. For starters he shouldn't get near a human. And most important he has many things to do right now. Starting with a long trip to Busan...
