"I'm so excited for your first No. 1 party tomorrow!" I exclaimed as Emmy and I exited our french class at the end of the day, the last class of the week.
"Je suis excité aussi, j'espère juste que Scarlet n'est pas une salope."
I pinched her sharply on the arm, "Get out of French mode - I still don't understand why you take a class you are fluent in. Whereas I attend this class to learn French. But I know enough of the language to know that you called Scarlet a bitch!"
She shook her head defiantly, "I said I hope she isn't, didn't directly call her one. But I'm excited too! Means I get to spend less time with Kit when the party finishes."
Emmy may think that she is master matchmaker but it is clear that she likes Kit and is completely oblivious to the fact. Any time he messages her, a smile will creep onto her face and Emmy will try to compose her feature and look to see if I saw her face. I have, but I'm not sure if she's caught me yet.
"Just admit that you like him. Even if it's nothing more than friends." I gently pleaded as we turned to go up the staircase to our dormitory to change out of our school clothes and into something more comfortable.
"How about you snog your boyfriend to keep quiet?"
Now look who's acting bitchy.
We walked in silence down the corridor and pulled clothes out of our cubbies beside our beds. It was late Friday afternoon so the only activities on were swimming sessions until dinner and a STEM study session in one of the physics classrooms. As I was attending neither, I opted to wear some grey joggers and a large black zip up.
It was pretty clear that the hoodie I was wearing was not mine and I'm assuming that's exactly why Cory let me steal it from him a couple of weeks ago after the Showcase Match. From across the room, I could tell that Emmy had calmed down as she was actually studying her economics notes from earlier in her dressing gown.
"You getting changed for dinner?"
"I'll throw something on," she replied nonchalantly, "was thinking I would tan in a little bit."
I hummed to myself as I packed away my school things so everything was ready for Sunday-night-school-prep as I assumed I would be too busy getting ready tomorrow and too hung over on the Sunday to properly prepare myself in advance. I have to do a proper reset on a Sunday to stay sane. Organise my clothes for the week, activities, parties or social events. Just the whole lot really.
"Megs? You here?" As we heard his voice, Emmy peered over her notes to look at me.
She tutted at me. "Don't leave boyfriend at the door waiting."
"He is not my boyfriend!" I hissed back as I opened the door.
There Cory stood, a goofy grin plastered over his face as I asked him what he was doing. "Wondering if you wanted to hang out for a bit? Haven't seen you recently."
I told him to wait at the door as I ran to grab my shoes from under my bed. As I bent down to tie them, I opened my bedside table and took a swig of cherry coke.
"Ready! Bye Emmy!"
She put get hand up to me, nose buried in her economic notes.
"I was thinking a trip into town to buy you a dress for tomorrow?" Cory asked, putting his hand in mine, "I know you probably have one, but let me spoil you for once. We can get one second hand if you're worried about money-" I stopped walking and his face was panicked, "What? You okay? What is it?"
I looked up at him and kissed him deeply, letting his tongue slip into my mouth. He lightly tugged on my lower lip causing me to give a small moan which he smirked at. I finally pulled away, "I would love to go dress shopping. Now come on, I don't want to miss the bus and we can finish whatever that was later."
Cory seemed happy enough to know that we would be kissing later so grabbed my hand again and pulled me through the corridor.

"Your contact name is so boring."
"Really? Actually, I expected that from you. I have you on my phone as Useless Assistant."
Kit put a hand over his heart as if he had been shot, showing clear mock betrayal. I laughed at him as he tripped up on some clothes lying on the floor and landed on someone's bed.
"Anyway, we need to finish finalising tomorrow's party." I said pulling out a pink fluffy notebook from my desk as I stuffed my economic notes into my school bag.
"You're lucky we are on a call because I would've punched you by now."
I took immediate offence to this, "And why is that?"
Kit picked up his phone and I could see him trying to get comfortable on his bed, "Because you've planned the party to the point that it might not be fun anymore. Just let loose, you'll be absolutely fine."
"You didn't have to say you would punch me." I retorted as I flicked through the party details in the fluffy pages.
"God, you are so entitled. I have a new contact name for you, 'Bossy Bitch'."
"Bitch sounds too dirty for me."
He looked exasperated at me, "Bossy Princess? Is that any better?"
"Perfect." I gleamed at Kit through my phone. "And I think I'll change your name to 'Jester'. An idiot who listens to everything I say."
"Bye Emiline." Kit then hung up on me. Just like that. He disconnected the call before I could even stick my tongue out at him. Rude.
I put my phone down and continued to scan through the pages and pages of planning I had for the part, only to find that I had missed a few lines to fill in later.
I read the heading: DRINKING GAME. I had forgotten to come up with a drinking game for tomorrow! Instantly, I jumped back onto my phone to look up easy drinking games before coming to the conclusion that it would be easier to make up one myself.
Of course, there would be empty bottles at the party and I could just write a bunch of truths and dares down on card. Someone would pick up a card and spin the bottle. Whoever it landed on would have to answer or do what the card says or forfeit. The forfeit would be written on the card but the person who turns down the action on the card wouldn't know until they ask for the forfeit.
Not only am I a princess, I'm also a genius.
