Hannah's P.O.V

We had just finished breakfast at a café a few blocks away from the school. Mamrie was driving us both to school.

"Want to hang out after school? Or are you busy?" Mamrie asked me.

I sighed. "Sorry, I have to work till 9:30 tonight."

"Oh that's too bad," Mamrie frowned. "Maybe I can come hang out while you're working?"

I smiled at her persistence. "Sure Mames,"

. . .

After school I headed to work. I walked in and let the warm smell of fresh coffee wash over me. I breathed in. 'Nothing has really changed,' I was very releaved at the realization.

"Hart. You're late. Get over here and serve the costumers." My boss barked the orders at me.

"Yes sir," I said under my breath while ducking my head as I put my apron on. The busy afternoon settled as 7 o'clock creeped up on the clock. The store was quiet, but still alive.

Then she walked in. In dorky overalls, blonde hair up in a bun, popular nerd-glasses and casual sneakers. I looked down and side smiled. 'Grace'

"Hannah? You work here?" She questioned.

"Yep," I replied, "What can I get you?"

"Hazelnut Frappiccino" I laughed to myself a bit, that's the same drink I get.

I made the drink.

"Working late?" Grace asked me.

"Till around 9:30, but I'm about to go on break." I replied. 'My hands are so sweaty... gross.'

"Wanna sit for a while? I mean if you're on break and I don't really have anywhere to be.." I handed her the coffee.

"Sure," I said shakily. 'This can't be happening!'

She pulled out her purse. "No no it's on me," I smiled.

"What? No I can't let you do that," She insisted.

"I want to." I said, being impossible to argue with. She just smiled. "I'll be off in a sec, can you wait?"

"Of course," she smiled again. Beautiful smile.

I made myself a hazelnut Frappiccino. My usual drink. Graces usual drink. I smiled at the thought that we could share something, even if it's so little, so insignificant. It's something.

Grace was sitting at a table waiting for me. 'Waiting for me, of all people.' I went to sit across from her.

"Hey," I greeted quietly.

"Hi," She replied. She looked into my eyes as she spoke. I stare right back. I sit down, somehow relaxed.

"I didn't know you worked here, I've never seen you here," she made conversation.

I explained, "I got transferred here from a Starbucks a few blocks from here. This one is just closer to school and home."

"Home." She smiled. "Tell me about your family. Brothers? Sisters?"

I looked down and coughed, somehow ashamed. "No,"

"Well what are your parents like?" If only she knew.

"Assholes," she looked confused. I offered an explanation, "As soon as I turned 15 I got emancipated. They kicked me out just before. I never want to see them again."

She just looked at me. "Hannah.. I-"

I interrupted, "It's okay Grace," I smiled, "tell me about your family," changing the subject.

"Single mom, older brother in college, younger brother in elementary school." She explained.

"What are your brothers' names'?"

"John and Tim."

My phone buzzed beside me. It was Mamrie.

Mamrie - "Can't make it 2night lil Hart, sry. I got a butt load of homework. See you tomorrow. X"

I didn't reply, only smiled. 'More time with Grace' I thought. I put my phone down.

"What's you're favourite colour?" I asked Grace.

"My favourite colour?" Grace laughed "Why?"

I giggled. "Just making conversation."

The night went on. Grace stayed even when I had to go back to work. We talked until we had to go home. I wish we could've talked forever. So I was glad to hear that she said, "Talk to you soon,"
