station 19 // s2 e11 // baby boom

"I love busting through walls." Andy proclaimed as she and Maya arrived back at the aid car. "And doors. I wanna bust through more things."

"Thanks for the quick response back there." Ryan thanked, a soft smile directed towards Andy on his face.

"So, Tanner, should I be expecting you to swing by after shift for your bi-weekly Herrera booty call?" Maya questioned, grinning ear from ear. Andy and Ryan gave each other a weird look before going back to their individual tasks. "No judgment, of course. Booty calls happen. One thing leads to another and the adrenaline's pumping, and bam. Booty calls. You know, sometimes, a few times in the shower, outside the shower, drying off from the shower-"

Ryan cut Maya off, effectively stopping her ranting about her experience with Jack a week prior. "Yeah, I mean, it's not a given that I'll be over."

"Exactly." Andy agreed. "And it's not a given that I'll be free. I might have plans, maybe with other people."

"I might too. Also with other people."

"And if that were the case, it wouldn't be a big deal."

"It wouldn't even be a deal."

"Because booty among friends can be just that. Booty. Among friends. And nobody needs to get feelings involved or have feelings about it." Maya added, pleased with Ryan and Andy's, mostly Andy's, agreement about the situation.

"Absolutely."

"Of course."

"It's good to hear that, actually." She announced to the two shortly before walking away.

"So, you really meant it back there, that you're good with Ryan doing stuff with other people? Even though you're also doing stuff with each other?" Now back at the station, showered and changed, Maya and Andy walked through the locker room towards the beanery.

"We're grown ups. We're not attached at the hip or anything. I think we're both clear on that." Andy confirmed.

Maya's pulse increased with every step she took. She wasn't sure how to tell Andy that her and Jack had hooked up, but she knew it couldn't be that bad if that was how Andy saw her and Ryan's relationship. "So then, if you weren't doing stuff with each other at all anymore, you'd probably be even more good if he was doing stuff with anyone else."

"Oh, hey, guys." Vic smiled at the bottom of the staircase, lightly rocking something in her arms. "Uh, do either of you guys want a baby?"

"Oh, did-did we get a-"

"Yeah."

"Safe surrender. Keep walking or we'll get stuck on baby duty." Maya instructed, not breaking eye contact with the baby. The two split on either end of the staircase, successfully evading baby duty. Again. This happened more than what would be deemed normal. Maya turned a corner, bumping into the one person she shouldn't be seen with- Jack. "We need to talk." She told him sternly, grasping the front of his uniform and pulling him into the turnout room. She closed the door, standing as close to him as possible as an intimidation tactic. "I don't do things behind people's backs. What happened between the two of us the other day- it can never happen again."

"Okay." Jack's hands shook slightly as he tried to rebutton the top button of his uniform. "It's a shame, though, cause I think we both had a pretty incredible time."

"It's never gonna happen again." Maya insisted. "And I'm telling Andy about it."

"Cool." Jack nodded, walking away from the blonde.

"Cool? What do you mean 'cool?'" She questioned, following after him. "You're not worried about how she's gonna react?"

"I mean, maybe I would be if I were you. But she and I haven't been anything in a long time, so..."

"Jack!" Dean called out from behind the closed doors. "Come on, man. It's time to go."

"Well, I gotta run. Miller's got me on buffer duty with his family. I'm sure she'll be fine. Wouldn't worry about it."

"I'm not worried."

"Then kudos. Try not to miss me too much."

Maya only missed Jack when she was put on baby duty. But she missed Emma the entire time.
