"Make me a glass of wine," Kafo demanded as he grabbed the television remote.
Muichiro nodded, ready to spring into action at the mere utterance of orders. Swiftly rising from the couch, he displayed a palpable readiness to fulfill his mission. Despite the persistent ache in his legs, they forged ahead unflinchingly, unwaveringly advancing towards the designated destination without a hint of hesitation.
He methodically explored each essential cupboard, taking deliberate care to avoid any mistakes. The glass cupboard yielded its contents first—a delicate cup—followed by a visit to the grandeur bar for a bottle of wine. With precision, he poured the wine, ensuring a graceful execution to prevent any spills he might regret later. Leisurely, he departed the kitchen, cradling the drink, the evident force of a smile gracing his lips as he sauntered.
With swift grace, he reached the living room, presenting a glass of wine to the parched Kafo. In response, Kafo emitted a contented grunt, indulging in a sip the instant the glass touched his fingertips.
Muichiro straightened his posture, maintaining a careful balance that avoided any hint of dominance. He was mindful not to undermine Kafo's self-esteem by projecting an overly imposing presence. Biting his bottom lip, Muichiro pondered the best approach for addressing the gnawing request on his mind. Kafo, perceptive to Muichiro's hesitation, briefly acknowledged it before refocusing on the television screen.
"Ahh, umm—baby?"
Kafo closed his eyes, savoring the rich taste of his wine as he took another sip before carefully placing the glass on the table. Crossing his legs, he released a deep sigh, casting a wearied gaze at Muichiro, purposefully trying to diminish the perceived value of the other with each passing moment.
"Mm," He hummed in acknowledgment of his husband's presence.
Muichiro absently twiddled his fingers, feeling the subtle tremors in his legs as they gradually surrendered their connection to the solid ground. Every fiber of his spine ached with a determined agony, hinting that soon even the simple act of standing would become an arduous task. Resolute in his intent to avoid this impending struggle, he devised a plan to succumb to the embrace of sleep.
"Please let me excuse myself to the bedroom for a small nap," He explained.
A charged silence enveloped the room as Kafo deliberately lingered before offering his response, his gaze locked intently with Muichiro's. A faint, sardonic smile played on his lips, accentuating the moment as he finally gave a subtle nod, signifying approval to the smaller individual.
Experiencing a wave of relief, Muichiro couldn't help but release a surprised exhale upon realizing how swiftly his requests had garnered approval. He bit his bottom lip once again, this time in satisfaction, taking it whole as he beamed. With a deliberate yet unhurried pace, he made his way towards the master bedroom, keenly aware of the need to temper his joy in the presence of his perpetually skeptical husband.
As he entered the bedroom, he deftly turned the doorknob, taking care to minimize any noise that might disturb Kafo's concentrated attention on the television screen. The instant his feet touched the cool marble floor, he urgently dropped to his knees. With a swift motion, he closed the door silently behind him before quickly crawling to the side of the expansive king-sized bed.
He crouched down, inspecting every inch beneath the bed with meticulous attention. Despite the diligent efforts of the weekly maid who maintained the immaculate cleanliness underneath and throughout the entire house, it was not the pristine state that occupied his thoughts. As his gaze caught sight of a gleaming silver box on the periphery, he suddenly felt the resurgence of his significance in life.
