Several days had passed since Muichiro's unsuccessful endeavor to unlock the safe. Attempting to erase the memory of how narrowly he missed freedom proved to be a challenging task, as his mind incessantly replayed the experience. It felt as though the devil on his shoulder was persistently whispering that another attempt was possible, that there remained a window for a retry. However, in time, he reluctantly accepted the notion that hope had abandoned him within the confines of that home.
Genya was the sole force keeping him tethered to life. Though he had entertained various dark thoughts about ending it all, Genya consistently emerged in the midst of those contemplations. There was an inexplicable something that Genya possessed, capable of interrupting the downward spiral of his negative mindset. Whatever that magic touch was, it undeniably excelled at fortifying Muichiro's resilience and willpower.
He openly acknowledged it, particularly in that moment when they sat together, enveloped in each other's presence while immersed in their favorite series. It had been quite some time since the two shared an hour of Netflix enjoyment. The last time that happened, Genya was invited to dinner, and boy, did Muichiro denounce those recalled events.
Choosing not to delve into another time-consuming thought process, he fixed his gaze on the gleaming screen in front of him. He sought solace in the storyline and the reassuring touch that Genya had on his shoulders. With each passing day, he found himself increasingly enamored with Genya, fully aware of just how much the other reciprocated it. Yet, the complex circumstances surrounding Muichiro made pursuing their affair an unfeasible prospect.
Kafo wielded an immense influence in society, making it virtually impossible for Muichiro to evade immediate capture within seconds of attempted escape. The sheer contemplation of this reality induced a nauseating sensation within him, pushing him to the brink. His discomfort reached its peak until the urgent sound of the doorbell abruptly interrupted his tormenting thoughts.
"I'll go get it," Genya affirmed, getting up from the couch with a grunt.
Muichiro whimpered as Genya subtly withdrew his physical touch. Any remaining sense of security he had, if there was any left, melted away with Genya's departure. The realization dawned on him that Genya was unquestionably his safe haven, someone he couldn't bear the thought of parting with. That single notion haunted him profoundly. He needed him.
"Looks like it's..." Genya's sentence trailed off as his face twisted into one of confusion.
Muichiro observed intently as Genya tilted his head back, furrowing his eyebrows for a more focused view. A sense of unease began to creep over him as he feared a hassle in the middle of their show. The taller individual's expression did little to alleviate his apprehension; if anything, it intensified. Yet, all his concerns melted away when Genya resumed the sentence he had previously paused.
"Shit, is that you or am I trippin'?" He asked, maintaining his focus on the peephole. "I swear I don't get high,"
"Pfft-," Muichiro slapped a hand over his mouth as he laughed, instantly realizing who had awaited them at the door and Genya's amusing reaction to it.
Muichiro eagerly anticipated the long-awaited moment of Genya meeting his brother. This encounter marked the initial step toward getting to know the rest of his family. He fervently hoped that the both of them would reach that significant point. However, the prospect of this outcome seemed like a distant dream for their relationship, and contemplating it left him feeling disheartened.
"That's my brother, you dingus," Muichiro explained in between laughs as he clutched onto his stomach. "His name is Yuichiro,"
Genya's mouth, as well as his eyes, went wide in surprise. For whatever reason, he didn't expect Muichiro to have any siblings. The entirety of the current situation definitely came as a shock to him.
