"Umm...,"
Muichiro's eyelashes fluttered as his lips parted briefly. He tried to clear his throat, although it ended in an unexpected hesitation. Genya, puzzled, observed Muichiro's expressions, a veil of confusion on his face as he surveyed his expressions.
Suddenly, the smaller one looked away, breaking all overwhelming eye contact. He awkwardly smiled, focused on the wall next to him apprehensively. His hands clasped on his lap.
"You sure you don't want any coffee?" Muichiro stammered, his voice wavering.
Genya furrowed his brows, feeling like he'd answered the same question multiple times already. Muichiro's intense gaze left him puzzled, but he was willing to help out as the house sitter, even if it wasn't his role to be butler.
However, instead of offering help, Muichiro kept asking repetitive questions, making the atmosphere increasingly awkward for both of them.
"Umm... no, thank you," Genya replied, his confusion evident. "I'm sure we've talked about this befo-,"
"Tea?"
By now, Muichiro was growing desperate. His right leg rapped against the foot of the chair with haste. He didn't want to create a scene, but at times, he found it hard to control his emotions. Especially when it was obvious that he was acting weird, which was typically never the case. This sitch was one of those very few times.
Genya began to chew the inside of his lips, unprepared to reject another offer. He simply wasn't one to say no, but Muichiro was certainly asking too many questions.
"No, thank you?"
This time, he was looking away, no longer able to take the nervousness continuously eating at him. Muichiro, the same, as the air slowly became tranquil. Except it wasn't tranquil, and instead, just a violent silence occupying what was left of their tolerance.
"Well," Muichiro began, carefully closing his laptop. "I'm gonna go for my walk now,"
"It's only seven,"
Muichiro flinched at the realization.
"It's okay to go a little bit early sometimes," He mumbled, removing himself from his seat.
That was a lie. He was prescribed by his doctor daily walks at specifically nine in the morning. The thought didn't even last in his head for long concerning the consequences. It was something he didn't even have the time of day to think about.
Instead of worrying, he grabbed the laptop from the dining room table, tucking a strand of lingering hair behind his hair with a finger. He rushed into the master bedroom and shut the door behind him with a bang, startling the ever so confused Genya.
Shortly after, he came back with an immediate change of clothes. On his torso was a gray oversized sweatshirt. On his legs, black leggings meant for fitness rather than fashion. Not to mention what was on his eyes; a bright blue visor.
His hair was all laid out behind it, undone from the messy bun it was in prior. Tightly held in his hand was a black hair tie. The hair wasn't gonna tie itself, but alas, Muichiro couldn't tie it either. At least not without some sort of mirror, and he feared having to visit that bedroom for yet another time.
Instead, he slowly walked over to Genya, hands intertwined behind his back as he sauntered. With a tilt of his head, he slightly grinned, making sure he seemed approachable as the one who was doing the approaching. No need to embarrass himself twice in one day.
"Hey, Mr. Shinazuga- "
"Genya," the taller one suddenly interrupted. "You can call me Genya,"
Muichiro perched up, quite taken aback by the informal name suggestion. He briefly looked to the ceiling with a side glance before facing Genya once again. His smile returned, and he extended a hand in front of him. He required physical contact at least once, or else it was all for naught.
Genya stood up off the couch, taking Muichiros hand in his own with a professional shake. It barely lasted for a second as the hands gently parted ways.
"Well, if that's what we're doing then... I guess you could call me Muichiro," He returned his hands to the home of his back with another benevolent smile. "No need for Mr. Yamazaki,"
Genya nodded, waiting for what the smaller one would request of him at this very moment. Except, nothing came out. The smile that Muichiro plastered upon his lips remained as he surveyed Genya. He looked him up and down, unable to catch himself in his own stare. How could someone's physique get so toned? It impressed the smaller one who couldn't tear his gaze away.
"M... Muichiro?" Genya addressed, knitting his eyebrows together in concern. "Hey, what were you gonna ask me?"
Muichiro suddenly snapped out of his reverie, turning to face Genya directly.
"Oh! Right—umm,"
A hint of warmth took over his cheeks as he revealed one of his hands from his back. In it was a small hair tie that dangled from his two fingers. It was a genuine question longing for an answer just as sincere.
"Could you tie my hair?" Muichiro asked, turning around, anticipating a yes.
The Yamazaki's were quite humble, while the Tokito's were known for their pride. That was all that mattered at the end of the day, regardless of the name Muichiro had taken after marriage. Tokito blood flowed through him.
"Uhh...,"
Genya obliged, removing the hair tie from the smaller ones hand and placing it in between his teeth. He instantly grabbed Muichiro's hair with one hand and gathered any lingering strands with the other, balling everything into one neat ponytail. With his right hand, he removed the tie from his mouth and wrapped it around the locks being held. Finally, he ended off the ponytail with a double wrap concealing Muichiro's hair into one long bunch.
"Done," He confirmed, watching as Muichiro with a satisfied expression turned around to face him.
"Thank you," Muichiro beamed.
He adjusted his visor slightly to make sure it sat perfectly on his head.
He was about to head for the front door of the abode when Genya suddenly apologized, saying, "Sorry if I made you feel awkward. I'm not really a good talker,"
Muichiro paused in his steps, his hand barely on the knob as he listened. He was shocked to have perceived the apology, considering how unnecessary it was. Genya did nothing wrong.
"You're fine," He said softly, slightly twisting the door knob in front of him and waiting for a reply.
Genya merely nodded, lowering Muichiro's hopes. He had yearned for a bit more of a response from the taller man.
Shrugging it off, he completely twisted the door knob and opened the door. With one swift movement, he was out and walking.
