It was 1790, July 16th specifically, Washington D.C. was founded as the nation's capital.Father and the other states celebrated, and they did too.Why would they not?Sure, they both gave up land, which was a little painful, but it had become so amazing since then.

But still, they celebrated.

And when they woke up the next morning, they couldn't have expected this.

They woke up in a semi-hug, with something warm and bundled in the middle.

She got up from the hug, shaking his grasp off so she could sit straight, waking him up, and..

Whatever, or whoever was in the bundle.

She rubbed her eyes, looking down.

He straightened his hack, scooting a bit more away from the wall they leant on, to realize that something was on him.

They engaged eye contact for a few moments,

And snapped out of it as they heard crying.

She carefully scooped up what she believed to be an infant into her arms, as he watched.

The baby quieted down as she cradled, whilst having a quiet conversation with him.

"Where did this baby come from??"

"I dont know!"

"Its like they just poof-"

"Wait, poof?"

"As in the child just poofed there?"

"You're Not implying.."

"I am, this is how we appeared, correct?"

"correct.."

After a moment of silence, Virginia broke the silence. "Is this child perhaps.. Ours?" They stared at each other for a moment, silently agreeing.

"..What would we tell father?" Maryland asked hesitantly. It was quite obvious that Virginia had not had the thought come to mind yet, as her eyes widened.

"..I don't know.." She eventually responded.

"Perhaps we should keep the child a secret..?" Maryland replied, after a moment of thought.

"That is what seems most reasonable." Virginia began. "I guess it is good that we do not live in the same house as father.."

"I presume it is." Maryland chuckled, the mood lifting.

And from that day on, they learned to care for the child, whom they learned to be a girl.
