New Identity

I woke up with a headache. A tormenting one, to be more specific. However, there was something strange, aside from the headache that I'm feeling right now. The bed that I was lying on felt way too comfortable, it could probably be my headache that made me feel this way, but, this doesn't feel right because my bed was a $10 one bought on ikea, its quality is only slightly above a ragged rug, it could not possibly be this comfortable. I slowly lift up my eyes, and the moment I do that, a voice mixed with relief and overwhelming happiness shouted:

"Sh-she's awake!"

I choked at the sudden sound. Jolting up from bed and looking directly at the source of the voice. Who is this? However before I got to say anything the man pushed me back down to bed.

"Please don't over-exert yourself m'lady, you must be extremely drained upon your recovery, but don't fret, me and the other servants will take good care of you"

I tried not making a confused face at the man's words because he talked to me as if I was someone who he knew well and treasured. Though it kind of failed because he probably caught onto my mouth agape. Fortunately, not long after a gentle-looking old man stormed into the room and dashed towards my bed before breaking out into tears while hugging me. Instinctively, I didn't know who he was so my first reaction was subtly shoving him off. He seemed to notice my reluctance and stared at me with his red face from crying.

"Daughter, do you remember me?"

Oh so he's my father? At first I considered bluffing because I really did not want to make this old man cry more but then I realized it would've made no difference because my 'memory-loss' would be caught onto sooner or later anyways.

"I don't"

Those words seemed to pierce through his heart, he started to tremble while still grabbing onto my shoulders. The servant next to him immediately caught the cue and supported him from collapsing.

"Maybe the lady needs some time to recall her memories, let's give her time, your grace" The servant suggested as he looked at the frail old man with great concern.

The man weakly nodded before both of them walked out, closing the door with a 'clack' behind them.

Until then did I finally have the opportunity to get a better look of the room I woke up in. And only then did I realize the room lowkey reminded me of those rich spoiled daughters' rooms frequently seen in novels. The furniture in the room were all high-quality items, and all the stuffed toys on my bed right now were all branded, not that I know any of the brands but they seem trusted enough. This is definitely way better than my old room, in fact, this room alone was even bigger than the ragged apartment I had to live in for the past 6 months ever since I graduated high school.

Wait a second. How did I even get here? I started to focus on recollecting my memories. The unannounced shout of that servant from earlier and the appearance of my 'father' caused me to almost forgot the real reason that was bothering me the moment I woke up in this room. Ten minutes passed and I managed to remember my life up until the few first weeks of college.
I'm Yui, currently a college student at Rosewood school, my parents passed away when I was 9 and I've been living with my aunt ever since. Rosewood had always been my dream school so I worked my ass off to get into it, however for some reason, my memory seemed to vanish beyond the end of first few weeks of college. The last thing I remembered, was getting a message from a friend to meet her on top of our college's rooftop. Though how could that thing alone give me a headache and push me into this world? I tried using all my will power for another 5 minutes, there were no additional memories that I recollected. A feeling of uneasiness suddenly overcame me, however my positive resilience snapped me back into reality. What I need to do right now is learn more about this world, and try to find an answer along the way! Just like what they say 'Only time could tell'. And so I clenched my fist in determination that I'll be sticking to this motto for now.

I didn't notice the door opening due to being so lost in my thoughts, but as soon as I turned around, the servant man from earlier was already in front of me, bowing down respectfully.

"Your father got an urgent business call so he had to resolve it. He wanted me to ask if you are feeling any better, m'lady"

"Uhm, well, the thing is" The first thing I need to know right now is my name "What's my name again?"

The servant looked back at me with distraught. Uh oh. I think I accidentally made him more worried. But to be honest, if I haven't addressed this problem now, then postponing it would only make it worse.

"Are you..are you sure you don't remember anything, m'lady?"

I shook my head.

"I see" The servant surprisingly didn't panic as much, instead he said calmly "Then I guess I'll have to introduce myself to you again like the day we first met"

He bowed down, "My name is Frederick, I'm your family's servant and have been serving in this house for 5 years"

"I'm honored to be at your service again, lady Kanade"

Seeing his overly sincerity and politeness, I couldn't help but make a light chuckle, "That was a longer answer than I wanted, but thank you"

The servant who have been having his serious look this whole time suddenly cracked a bit, "...It's my honor, m'lady"

"Did I say something wrong?"

"...It's just that, before you went into a coma, you would seldom say 'thank you' to anyone. So I was slightly caught off guard" The servant explained nervously.

Wow, what kind of spoiled ass brat am I possessing?

"Ah, but don't think lowly of your previous self m'lady, you were a lady of high intellectual level and have a really good foundation of education" Probably because of the face I made when he said that that the servant quickly clarified.

"It's fine, I don't think lowly of myself" I gave him a reassuring smile. Although on the contrary, I'm thinking of whether or not Frederick was bluffing for my sake.

"Oh by the way Frederick, can you do me a favor?"

"I'll do anything you ask of me" Frederick bowed down again.

Oh my god. My head hurts seeing an old servant man like Frederick roughly bowing down 10 times a day.

"Not related to the favor but you're not allowed to bow down in front of me ever again"

"...Excuse me?" He seemed to be caught off-guard by the sudden command.

"I mean, I know it's apart of your role to do that but I hate it, I don't like seeing it"

"I see, then I'll do as you say, m'lady"

"So what was the favour you wanted to ask me?" Frederick asked while still standing respectfully straight, it seemed like he took my request seriously.

"Don't tell father about my memory-loss."
