After dumping the dried laundry on the bed, I stared at the clothes expecting to feel some sort of accomplishment, but found I felt absolutely nothing. Even as I folded them into neat piles, there was no joy being sparked, only emptiness. I felt lied to by about every self-care guide out there. Where was the chapter on 'Waiting for your serial killer to strike again'? Before or after 'Getting yourself out of bed after your best friend was killed by a psychopath'? This was stupid, trying to go on about life as if I didn't know Jorge Molina wasn't Triple-6's next target. As much as I knew Eli was right, that Jorge would be under police surveillance – surveillance looking for us - I still couldn't shake the feeling that we weren't doing enough. I glanced at Eli who was engrossed in whatever he was working on at his laptop. I knew he wasn't a direct confrontational kind of a person, that his best was at a computer, but I still wanted more from him.

Collapsing on the bed, I pulled out phone and was surprised to see the others still awake and active.

Wayne: Are we really just sitting around waiting for this guy to go missing?

Vic: Police said they're aware of the mark

Wayne: But they're going to do shit about it

Vic: They're waiting on their expert to confirm its authenticity

Wayne: In other words... shit about it

Dylan: In their defense it does look sus

Vic: They said they've got Jorge under 24 hr surveillance

Vic: So unless I was willing to go on the record about what I know and how I know it they're not going to move him

Wayne: Being a close friend to Triple-6's previous victims isn't enough?

Dylan: The police can't react to any old 666 painted on any old door

Vic: Exactly

Vic: They would want to know why I am so convinced it's not Eli

Vic: And that would mean admitting I'm in contact with Dani

Vic: And by extension Eli

Wayne: So?

Vic: What do you mean "So?"

Wayne: Why don't you?

Dylan: You do realize how that could be a problem?

Wayne: Um a guy's life is at stake

Wayne: That's what you were jumping up and down about earlier right?

Vic: I'm not going to compromise Dani!

Wayne: She's tough! She can handle it!

Vic: Yeah but she's trusted us

Vic: I'm not going to betray her

Vic: And by extension I'm not going to betray Eli either

Wayne: ffs

Wayne: I'll do it

Vic: No!

Dylan: Wayne don't

Wayne: Give me one damn good reason not to

Wayne: And it better not have Eli in it

Vic: You mean other than losing a close friend forever?

Vic: Because there is no way she'll ever forgive you

Wayne: You know what?

Wayne: She'll be alive and safe

Wayne: She might have a hard time for a little while
