Hollis and I had a lazy day together. We napped, watched 90's movies, and ate comfort food. I learned a lot about him during our day together.
He gives amazing foot massages.
He snores
He had ticklish forearms. (weird right?)
He hogs the covers.
It was a pretty peaceful day. As the sun went down, and the day tapered off to and end, I knew he had to leave. Frankly, I was upset about that.
He yawned and stood up from the couch extending his arms over his head.
"You leaving?" I asked as nonchalantly as possible.
"Not if you don't want me to." he scratched the back of his head, "You wanna get dinner though?"
I stood up next to him and smiled, "I'd like that."
"Wow our first date." He laughed, hugging me. I wriggled out of his grip and rolled my eyes.
"You wish."
"Go get ready." He laughed, smacking my butt in the direction of my room. I turned and stuck my tongue out at him.
I went into my room and closed the door. I examined the yellow polka dot comforter that was messed up from Hollis and I sleeping in it. It was good to know that I could have Hollis as a friend, and not worry about crossing that line. Once you hook up, its never the same.
I threw on a yellow sundress and decided against it. I took it off and looked in my closet. Casual, or classy?
I peeked my head outside of my door, careful not to expose my half-naked body.
"Hollis, where are we going?"
"Carmine's." I smiled, the yellow dress would be perfect for Carmine's. It was a fancy-enough place that served Italian food family style. I smiled at Hollis and closed the door. I slipped my dress on and some white slingbacks and slipped out of my room.
And there he was.
Gorgeous as always.
Talking awkwardly to Hollis in my living room.
"Willy!" I squealed and ran into his open arms.
"Ella!" He hugged me and twirled me around. I hung on to him and pecked his cheek.
"How did you find me?"
"I looked you up. I heard that you moved to the city, and I just moved into town myself. So I knew I had to find my Ella."
"I missed you." I said detaching myself from him.
"I know." he smirked, wiggling his eye brows. It was his signature thing.
William Ross. I had met Willy when I was twelve. Our parents were the best of friends. They always hoped Will and I would become something more, but that never happened. I mean, he was a hunk. he was tall, blond, well built, real easy on the eyes. We had kissed a few times, you always think about going there with your best friend, so we did. I remember the few make-out sessions we had. Breathless, quick, frantic. They came in small bursts, but they were always enjoyable.
He moved away to Miami for some failed reality show when we were 17. I was devastated, because I thought I was in love with him. However him leaving made me realize I wasn't.
"Will I see you've met my friend Hollis." I smiled, trying to make this less awkward. I touched Hollis's shoulder, to include him in our little reunion.
"We were just going to dinner." He said forcefully, jaw clenched. It was the only time I had seen Hollis when he wasn't at ease. He was a bit riled up, I could tell.
"Oh man, I'm sorry to impose on your date with Ella here." Will said condescendingly, which made Hollis even more mad.
"Naw, man. I'm gonna bounce." He said, as casually as possible. "Thanks for having me Elle." And with that, he left, slamming the door on his way out.
"What's his problem? He left so fast you would think he had a boner he couldn't hide. I wouldn't blame him Elle, you look hot."
I blushed. "I don't believe you, and you were a bit rude Willy. I guess things never change."
"Don't act like you don't like it. But you can go get your little boy toy and go with him, I don't care."
"He's not...we're not...I'm not..." I sounded like I was conjugating a verb in french class.
"I'm kidding with you Ella, we all know you still have to hots for me."
"Guilty." I laughed and sat on the couch. He followed suit and took my hand in his.
"I really did miss you." he said, planting a kiss on my forehead.
"I missed you too." I answered him honestly.
I reclined on the couch and turned on the T.V. 'Ferris Buler's Day Off' was on. We watched for about twenty minutes before he broke the silence.
"Remember the last time we kissed?" he asked, turning towards me.
"Of course. The night before you left." I blushed, remember ing the night I proclaimed my love to him.
"I'm sorry about that." he said. It was the most serious thing I had ever heard him say. It was a bit awkward, rehashing our past just a half hour after re-uniting.
"It's okay Will, really. And thank you for the surprise visit, It was sweet. But I just need some time. I'll call you sometime. We can meet up, talk. Just not now."
"I understand." I didn't know having him back in my life for such a short time, could bring back such confusing memories about my teen years.
I watched him as he got up and left, leaving his Cell number on a small piece of paper.
I curled up on the couch and started to cry.
