Melodie POV
Elizabeth stood before me, her finger firmly on the trigger as she unleashed a warning shot that reverberated through the air. In an instant, figures materialized before her, their lifeless bodies across the scene. The sight was chilling and devastating. Indah, once full of life, now lay motionless. Jackson, a pillar of strength, is now reduced to a lifeless form. Charlotte, beautiful despite her flaws, was silenced forever. Amethyst, whose vibrant spirit lit up any room, now extinguished. Annie, a beacon of kindness, now extinguished. And Jo, whose presence brought comfort, is now gone. Tears welled up in my eyes, flooding down my face, as Jo sent me one final smile before receiving the same fate as the others.
Elizabeth's piercing hazel eyes locked onto mine, and she snapped her fingers. My heart raced with confusion and fear as I struggled to make sense of what was happening. "C-Cody?" I stammered my voice barely above a whisper. The tears flowed down my face like a river as I screamed in a mixture of anger and despair, "You liar! He doesn't deserve to witness this!" My mind was in shock and my words came out barely in sentences, "It's time!" Elizabeth's grin widened as she raised the weapon and pointed it directly at me. My heart skipped a beat. The air was thick with tension and anticipation as I waited for the inevitable. "Stop!" Cody's voice rang out, shattering the silence. "What are you doing, Elizabeth?" he demanded, his voice filled with confusion and fear. "I'm correcting all the wrongs, Cody!" Elizabeth's voice was cold.
"I've brought you here to watch the end of the person who previously ended you." Her smile was twisted and evil. Cody moved closer to Elizabeth, his eyes still fixed on me, and I wondered what fate had in store for me.
With a sudden, chilling motion, Elizabeth's finger pulled back on the trigger, and a bullet was unleashed, racing towards my head with deadly intent. In that terrifying moment, I resigned myself to my seemingly inevitable fate, closing my eyes in a final act of acceptance. However, just as despair began to consume me, a familiar presence swiftly positioned itself in front of me, causing my eyes to snap open in disbelief. "No, no, no, no, no, please, no!" I cried out in a desperate plea, my voice trembling with fear and anguish. There, on the ground before me, lay Cody, his body shielding me from the imminent danger. Elizabeth rushed forward, her face filled with grief, and knelt beside him, her tears streaming down her cheeks in sorrow. In that bewildering moment, I found myself overwhelmed with a profound sense of confusion and helplessness, unable to comprehend the events that had unfolded before my eyes. All I knew was an overwhelming desire to release the emotions within me, to cry and cry until there were no tears left to shed.
Amidst the chaos and tension that consumed us, both Elizabeth and I were completely focused on the situation unfolding before our eyes. Unknown to us, Cody's swift movements went unnoticed as he reached for the weapon that lay beside Elizabeth. In one fluid motion, he released the bullet, forever altering the course of events. The woods were now silent as Elizabeth lay motionless in a pool of her own blood. As the gravity of the situation slowly sank in, my mind struggled to comprehend the magnitude of what had just transpired. Yet, amongst the overwhelming despair, Cody turned to me with a sweet smile, his eyes filled with love. With a tender whisper, he murmured the words, "I love you, Melodie," pulling me close for one last kiss. In that heart-wrenching moment, he breathed his last breath, his life slipping away in my arms, forever etching the memory of his love and sacrifice into my soul.
