~song of the chapter is Labour by Paris Paloma and Oh Ana by Mother Mother~
Nova woke up the next morning, the sun was shining on her face causing her eyes to glow their blueish-green colors. She winced when she opened them since the sun was in her eyes. Her hair shows different strands of red and blonde, and her freckles are also more prominent. She sits up and rubs her eyes the stretches when she hears people already driving out and packing their cars with what they can outside.
"Jesus." Nova gets up and trips over one of her dog's toys. She stumbles and catches herself on her drawers before opening them up to grab her clothes for the day. She was going to go to a store and get a few things. She yawns and heads downstairs to see her parents taking large bags out of their front door to the car.
"Oh, you're really staying?" Martha would ask as she looked at a tired Nova. She frowned a little and walked up to her daughter. "Please, I won't stop you from staying but why won't you come?"
"This is exactly what they want you to do, it's to leave, they are lying to us and I hope others realize it too," Nova replies. She could feel her heart begin to ache, realizing this was all real but it had a hint of excitement. She didn't know what would happen next but knew that she needed to stay here, it felt right. Nova frowns and feeds Heda before helping her parents pack the rest of their things in the back of the car.
Once everything was packed, Nova stood by the door as her parents looked at her. They hug her tightly and tear up. "Stay safe, please."
"I will don't worry Mom." Nova puts on a brief and faint smile when she looks at her mother. She couldn't help but feel heartache in that moment knowing this could be the last time she sees her parents, this could be the last time they see her. She didn't know what to expect but she had to stay strong for them.
Her parents get into their car as Nova stands there with Heda by her side, watching as her parents drive off. She watches a few other families leave. She sighs then goes inside with Heda and grabs her car keys. She goes out to her jeep and gets inside before driving to the town where Beck lives.
Beck gets in the jeep with Nova and Heda. "Are we really doing this?" He asks.
"Yeah, too late to turn back now." Nova chuckles a little before driving to the store. She goes and grabs some supplies or what's left of it. She didn't even think of paying which caused a scolding by Beck.
"What are you doing? You're going to get us in trouble!" Beck would shout as they got to the car with the unpaid items.
"Does it matter? Nobody will be here in a few days and do you want the bad stuff? I don't think so. So right now we are going to see what we can get, we need shoes and we need clothes." Nova stated before she began to drive. The two of them would pick up steal-toed boots and some thick cargo pants. They could use normal shirts they already owned. they get back into Nova's car and begin making their way to Orion's house.
When they arrive they get out of the car and go inside. "Dude people just left their horses in their yards it's crazy," Nova says as she walks into Orion's home. She sets the bags down on the table and takes her boots out to put on.
"Yeah, it's also kind of sad. When they leave we should take them since gas could go bad if we are here long enough. We could use them to get around, even my neighbors left their horses and they have stalls we can put them in."
Nova nods "Alright yeah, we can do that tomorrow. Right now we need to get weapons and see what we have for food. Weapons are at my house, there is a reason I never let you in my room." she smirks and looks at Orion. "You, me, let's go."
