The next morning, he was gone. I found a note taped to the door. Will be back soon. Getting a surprise for you. I wondered what the surprise could be. I grabbed a poptart and gobbled it down. I was still waiting, even after I took a shower and got dressed. Where was he? I paced back and forth waiting. Finally the door opened. I turned to hug Tony, but it wasn’t Tony. In his place stood a tall, mean-looking, gentleman. Behind him I distinguished Tony. “Who is this?”, I asked Tony who looked just as anxious as me. “Oh him… He’s just an old friend.” Was this my surprise? The man barged in hauling Tony with him. “I’m Drake.”, he made himself sound as if he was of great importance. I frowned at him. He waited. Did he want me to bow or something?

He gave up waiting for me to do whatever it was he was waiting for and walked in our living room. “Nice place, Tony. Very.. cozy.” My face made it clear he was unwelcome. He looked at me with disgust. “Wipe that unpleasant glare off your face.” My mouth flew open to tell him what he could wipe off, when Tony jumped in between us. “Its okay, Penny. He’s leaving soon.” He turned to Drake as if to confirm it. “Of course. Of course.” Drake strode up to Tony holding out his hand. Tony gripped it and they shoke. “But there is something I need to do before I leave.” He picked up Tony while they where still shaking and threw him against the wall. He crumpled unconscious. I screamed. “Tony!” Drake turned to me. “And we can’t forget about you.” I backed up in a corner. Where would I run to? Questions circled my head. Is Tony ok? Who is this, Drake? Then I felt something bash against my skull and the world started spinning. I was falling down, far down.

Wet, freezing water gushed on me. I awoke startled of my surroundings. Two people, one I identified as Drake. “I’m Aliandra.”, the other one said. “You know Drake, my husband.” She looked about 25 or maybe a little older. Like Drake, she walked like she was superior to me. I looked around. I was in a cell. I sat on a cold, concrete bed. The also concrete bars, held me back from escaping. She smirked at me. “You’re in London, underground as you might have or might not have guessed.” I didn’t speak. “Aren’t you going to ask why?” Her amused smile made me think it didn’t matter if I asked or not, she would tell me. “Oh well.” her disappointment showed, “Your vampire boyfriend was caught with a human. That would be you.” She pointed a sharp fingernail at me.

What was with me meeting all these vampires? Maybe I was cursed as a baby. I looked up with little shock. “You already knew didn’t you.” Her voice sounded cheerful. “He told you, didn’t he.” I shoke my head no. “You figured it out by yourself. How admiral.” Her head seem to get closer and her voice dropped, “And you still stayed with him. Why?” I didn’t answer this question. It was non of her bees-wax. I hadn’t known before, but rather suspected and she had just verified my theory. “What I’m still unsure about is what to do with you.” She held her head high and wrinkled her nose in repulsion. “I don’t enjoy keeping stinking humans in my prison. I wonder how you taste.” She laughed at her own joke. I sat there, ignoring her every word. “Aren’t you worried about what’s going to happen to you?”, still disappointed at my lack of fear.

“Speak”, she commanded. I didn’t know what to say. “Open the door!”, she yelled at the nearby guard. He rushed to the door with a key. He twisted the key and pushed open the heavy door. She entered, towering over me. “I said, speak!” She seized my arm and twisted it in a way that an arm should never be twisted. I used all my strength trying not to yelp in pain. “You’re a tough cookie aren’t you.” She slapped me once, then again. I curled it to a ball trying to defend myself. “Get up!”, she screamed. “Your not an armadillo, you’re a human! Now get up!” I closed my eyes waiting for her to stop. She kicked me in my side and then pulled me to my feet. “Your not a very good listener, are you.” She gave me a sickening smile, “We can fix that.” Tony will come, I thought to myself. Tony would never let them hurt me. Tony will be here any second. I waited, but he never came.

Everyday Aliandra came to ask me questions. She told me to speak, but each day I refused. “The silent treatment will only bring you more pain.” She was right. When I didn’t speak, she began to punish me. A nurse lady came after she left. She explained how she was the only one that had ever shown signs of significant powers. She would heal me up then leave, only to come back the next day to do it over again. I counted my arm broken at least twice. Once, Aliandra had poured acid on my arm. It burned through my bone and they had to send for the nurse quick. “Your so luckily I got here so quick. I might have had to amputate your arm!” When she fixed me up it felt horrible. Having your skin mended back together everyday hurts just as much as slicing it open.
