There was a comfortable silence as Harry and Louis drove down the quiet streets of their small town. The radio was playing soft music in the background as Harry stared out the window watching the trees whiz past the car. Harry turned and smiled.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going? I'm starting to think you're taking me to a remote location to murder me or something. You know, that won't work. You would never get away with it. Liam and Niall saw you leave with me. You'd be their top suspect," Harry teased lightly. Louis's laugh encoded through the small space of his car.
"I promise you, Harry, that's not what my intentions are this evening." Harry blushed.
"What exactly are your intentions for this evening then?" He pressed for more information. Harry hated not knowing what was going to happen, but he was excited, nonetheless.
"I'm going to tell you what I told you earlier, Mr Styles; it is a surprise. You just must wait and see," He grinned. Harry sighed, shaking his head slightly.
"Oh, come on H. It'll be fun, I promise you," Louis spoke, reaching over, and patting Harry's thigh.
"Look!" Louis exclaimed a couple of minutes later, "We're here!" pointing towards a building with a bright pink neon sign that read 'ice skating arena'. Harry smiled but became nervous as Louis pulled into the car park.
"What's wrong?" Louis questioned as he climbed out of the car, sensing Harry's nervousness.
"Nothing. Never mind, it doesn't matter," Harry mumbled, getting out of the car too. Harry closed the car door and turned around, Louis appearing out of nowhere with his eyes full of concern.
"Come on H, tell me."
"No, it's too embarrassing."
"Can't be that bad. I promise I won't make fun of you."
"Okay, I can't ice skate," Harry mumbled as he looked down, trying to avoid eye contact, "I have terrible coordination."
Harry glanced back up and saw Louis's face had changed. He had a small grin plastered on his face.
"What?" Harry asked, confused.
"Come on, come with me. I'm going to teach you, darling," he said, as he reached for Harry's hand, dragging him towards the entrance of the building.
Ten minutes later, they were inside the building and putting on their ice skates. Harry's hands were shaking, and he couldn't tie up the laces without fumbling. A gentle hand appeared on top of his and when Harry looked up, it was Louis. Louis gave him a warm smile before tying up the laces on Harry's ice skates. After Louis had finished tying up the last lace, he got up and held his hand for Harry. Harry gave him an uneasy look and placed his hand into the palm of Louis's.
"Come on, darling. You've got this," Louis said as he gently pulled Harry up from the seat. Harry must have tripped on one of the skate's laces because he fell right into Louis' body. Louis stumbled back, obviously caught off guard but braced Harry from falling and hurting himself. Harry's cheeks were heating up as he tried to compose himself, not wanting to look like a fool.
"Sorry! I'm a klutz. I'd be no good on the ice," Harry quickly blurted out trying to cover up the fact that he was embarrassed. Harry bent down hiding his face and tied up the lace that had come undone. Without looking up, Harry could feel a presence bending down in front of him placing a hand on his cheek and lifting his face so blue eyes could meet green.
"You're going to be fine. Stop freaking out and let me teach you. Okay?" His voice was calm and gentle, something that Harry needed to hear. Harry nodded taking a shaky breath.
