*Chrys' POV*

"Chrys! Oh my gosh I haven't seen you all winter break! How was your skiing?" my best friend, Lizzie, said running up to give me a hug. Actually, she was my only friend. I've lived here my whole live so it's not like I'm new or anything. I just don't like people.

"It was great, thanks!" I said giving her a giant bear hug. "How was L.A.?"

"Ugh. Boring as always," she said rolling her eyes. "My parents don't exactly understand that it gets boring when we do the same thing every.single.year."

"Ya. We should get to first period," I said as the warning bell rang. "Don't wanna be late on our first day back."

"Please, you're always worried about this stuff. It won't kill you to be late ONE time."

"Whatever," I said as I started walking to our calculus class.

I walked in and got to my seat just as the bell rang. On time, just like always, I thought to myself smiling. Mr. Tribiani didn't walk in until about three minutes after the bell rang, right behind Lizzie. I rolled my eyes, And late, like always.

Lizzie slid into her seat beside me as Mr. Tribiani said in his boring monotone, "Alright class, welcome back. I hope you all enjoyed your breaks. I'll go ahead and take attendance."

He went down the list without a hitch until he got to Lizzie, "Elizabeth Smith?"

"Here, Mr. Tribiani. And it's just Lizzie." He ignored her like he always did and continued going down the list of fifteen students in our class. I counted the names so I would know when I could stop listening and start the lesson. Thirteen...Fourteen...Fifteen...Sixteen...Wait, sixteen? We only have fifteen!

I snapped my head up and was about to bring it up to Mr. Tribiani when the principal, Mr. Smith (also Lizzie's dad which would be why she never gets in trouble), walked in followed by a tall boy wearing jeans and a hoodie. He was also rocking the one-strap-backpack look.

"Class," Mr. Smith was saying, "this is Daniel Griffin. He prefers to go by Dan. He just moved here from Minneapolis, Minnesota and he will be attending this school. I'm going to leave him in your hands now, Mr. Tribiani." And with that, Mr. Smith left the room to do whatever it is that principal's do.

There was only one empty seat in the classroom so I knew what was coming. "Daniel, why don't you take that seat right over there next to Ms. Chrystal Jones." Damn...and he was cute too! That's only going to make this harder. Why was I so freaking shy? "Oh, and Ms. Jones?" Mr. Tribiani said, "I also would like you to take it upon yourself to show Daniel around the school and be his honorary friend until he gets on his feet."

...Fuck...
