A/N: Hey, so here's that chapter I promised you guys God knows when. I'm beginning to implement a new idea and actually start to take this somewhere, I hope you guys like it! Enjoy!
*Chrys' POV*
It's been about a month since I told Dan about Dad. I haven't told him anything else about my personal life since then and we've only talked when we had to. It's Sunday night and there's just one more week between me and spring break. I take a shower, eat my vitamins, brush my teeth and crawl into bed, dreading the upcoming week.
*Dan's POV*
I still haven't talked to Chrys. Not like I used to at least. I still sit at the same table as her and Lizzie, but after that first week Lizzie gave up trying to include me in their conversations. Today, they're talking about their plans for spring break.
"It's still going to take quite a bit convincing to make my parents let me drive up to Vail with you. Especially Mom, I have a feeling Dad won't really mind though," Lizzie said.
"If it's about you driving, then they'll just have to deal. It's a four hour drive and you know that I'm sure as hell not driving," Chrys said.
"You're going to have to get over your fear of driving one day," Lizzie said, taking a sip of her chocolate milk. "Anyways, they might be more comfortable if we had an adult with us. We're still minors, even though we are seventeen."
"I'm seventeen. You, my friend, are not."
"I'm as good as! My birthday's in two months."
"Not in the eyes of the law, you're not."
They were quiet for a few minutes, eating their lunches. I could tell by the crease in Chrys' forehead that she was thinking.
I scooted down the table and said, "If it's all the same to you, I turn eighteen on Friday. If it makes your parents feel better, I could go with you guys. My mom won't care."
"That's a great idea!" Lizzie said, looking over at Chrys, who didn't respond for a moment. I could tell by the way that Chrys jumped and gave Lizzie the stink eye that Lizzie had just kicked her under the table. "Right, Chrys?"
"Sure. Whatever."
"It's settled then! I'll talk to my parents tonight, Chrys, you finish up the plans and make sure I have good directions. I don't want to get lost like last time."
"That was so not my fault."
"I still blame you."
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked.
"Just make sure you have good hiking shoes that are broken in and warm clothes you can exercise in. Also some dress clothes. We might go to a fancy restaurant or something," Chrys said, her voice harsh. She got up, threw away her trash, and left the cafeteria.
"Also, make sure you bring your appetite. Chrys is one hell of a cook." Lizzie got up as well and followed Chrys' example. She poked her head back into the cafeteria though and yelled, "We leave Saturday and get back Sunday." She gave me a thumbs up and left.
