A/N: New chapter! Whoop! Enjoy!
*Dan's POV*
The next few weeks passed by without incident. Except for the fact that Chrys seemed more closed off than usual. I decided not to ask though.
I took my usual place at the end of her table and dug into my lunch. Halfway through, Liz looks at me and says, "You know you can join us if you'd like."
I shook my head. "Nah. I don't want to intrude." Seeing that I wasn't going to give up that easily, Lizzie slid Chrys' tray down the table so that it was in front of me and then scooted down so that she was sitting next to me. Chrys huffed but moved down as well. The rest of lunch consisted of Lizzie asking me a bunch of random questions and Chrys picking at her food but not really eating it.
When I was at Chrys' house later that day for my tutoring, I said, "Sorry about lunch. I really didn't want to intrude. It was all Lizzie."
She sighed. "It's fine. And I know it was all Lizzie. She tends to do that. A freaking social butterfly that girl." She laughed. The rest of the session consisted of us talking about kids in our classes and the things that annoy us about them. We laughed quite a bit and by the end of the session, I felt like I knew more about Chrys than even Lizzie knew.
"So where's your mom at?" I asked.
"She's at work. She tends to be there almost all the time."
"Mine too. My mom has to move all the time and I tend to go with her. This is my seventeenth high school."
"Damn. I bet you have lots of friends though right?" She laughed.
"No actually. I don't. My mom promised that I could stay here for the rest of high school though. She said that she would deny any promotion she got or anything that would involve her to move to a different state."
"Oh. Sorry I didn't know."
"It's cool. What about your dad? What does he do?"
"He and my mom got divorced when I was six. Mom got full custody and Dad ran off somewhere. None of us have any idea where he is."
"I'm sorry. I should've known better I shouldn't have asked." She looked heartbroken. I think I just lost her friendship.
"You should go," she said after a moment, gathering my stuff and putting it in my bag for me. She handed me my backpack and pushed me out the door.
"I'm really sorry," I managed to get out before she closed the door.
Yay for crappy chapters! Sorry guys I'm having writer's block x.x It might have something to do with the fact that school is starting on Thursday and I'm really preoccupied with getting ready and trying to NOT freak out XP Anyways, I hope you liked this chapter! Let me know what you think :)
