Chapter 28: Respite

~AN at the end of the chapter~

As your first time in a hot spring, you were careful in checking the temperature. You weren't too sure how 'hot' a hot spring would be.

You were pleasantly surprised at the heat that greeted your toes as you dipped them in first. A sigh escaping you as you emerged the rest of yourself into the spring.

Steam continued to rise from the clashing of cold air and hot water.

Looking up, you could see the sky as it slowly started to darken through the canopy.

Instead of letting your thoughts run wild, you let them go with the breeze of the cool air as you relaxed further into the spring. The warm water soothed you. Your hands traced the new scar on your chest, fingers bumping over the raised flesh. The water felt hotter at that spot every time you lowered yourself deep enough into the hot spring.

It was a miracle that you survived that, had you finally adapted to this world? Have you stayed here long enough that there was no going back? Placing your hand fully on the scar, you could feel the beat of your heart. It's steady rhythm giving you a peace of mind.

You didn't stay in the hot spring much longer after that. The sky was slowly darkening through the canopy and you could feel hints of hunger. That small brief moment in the hot spring was more refreshing than you thought it would be.

Quick to change into the clothes that the female villager had left you, you made sure to fold up your other ones to make it easier for you to carry back on down.

A thought passed through your mind.

Would Tanjiro be waiting for you to eat?

You hoped so. After arriving here with him, you would think that would be the next course of action. But the reality is, you were here for your new Ninchirin. There was no telling how much longer you would have to stay versus Tanjiro with a case like yours.

With that in mind, you carefully made your way back down the path that led back to the village.

Greeting you at the bottom of the pathway was yet another villager. The both of you bowed to each other in greeting before you were directed to a different building.

Opening up the doors to one of the rooms you were guided to, you were met with Tanjiro and a very pretty lady already sitting at a long table.

There were no dishes yet laid out, and you were grateful that you had people to eat with.

Your eyes sprang right back up to the pretty lady that was sitting beside Tanjiro.

The gorgeous lady whose hair you thought was a fake colour for a moment, but then you had to stop yourself and think about the people you've met. People like Zenitsu and Uzui have very unique hair colours, so the pink and green hair shouldn't have come as a surprise for you.

It was clear when the lady's attention was on you as you saw her physically perk up at the sight of you entering the room.

Tanjiro was just as bright as you brought yourself closer to the both of them.

Minding your manners you bowed in greeting to the pretty lady first. "Hello! I'm (Y/N), it's nice to meet you."

She practically sparkled at your words, her eyes bright as she almost jumped up from her seat to greet you back. "It's wonderful to meet you (Y/N)!!"

Her smile was so bright, you couldn't help but grin right back at her.

"I'm Kanroji Mitsuri!"

Mitsuri was one of the sweetest people you have ever met. She was super curious about you, and always responded with so much enthusiasm that it was hard not to smile while talking with her.
