"They don't care for you."
The tired hashira heard as he walked towards the water estate. He froze and looked around, no-one was around. He was probably hearing things due to lack of sleep like usual.
"Maybe that... if your relative arrived earlier than expected, you're probably in an asylum, crazy."
"What?"
"You heard me."
He ignored the voice, he didn't want to remember the painful and dark past he had. The way they thought that he murdered his elder sister, the way he was called crazy, mentally ill. He didn't want to go through those painful memories of his again, it would only dig a much deeper wound than the real deal thing gave to him.
"What do you want?"
"One simple thing but first, sleep."
"Is it necessary for me to do so?"
"Yes."
The tired hashira sighed. He entered the water estate, closed the door behind him and went to his bedroom to sleep. He changed into his sleeping yukata and laid down on his futon with his back. He stared at the ceiling before closing his eyes, slowly but surely falling asleep.
??? Point of View
"Bastard." I mumbled under my breath as I waited for the person I had been haunting.
"Hello, anyone there?" A calm and collected voice yelled out as I heard footsteps from a distance. I got up from the boulder I were sitting on and walked over to the voice echoing through the voidless and boundless area.
"Hello, Giyuu Tomioka. I'm your darkside. Please meet me as your acquaintance. My name is [redacted]." I said as I lent out my hand towards Giyuu. The hashira looked exactly like me but the colors were different, his eyes were blue while my eyes were red. He had a mismatched haori while I had a blue yukata. I shook my head to dismiss the thoughts.
"Nice to meet you, [redacted]." He said as he grabbed my hand to shake it. We both shook hands and stared at each other for a few minutes.
"I'm serious, Giyuu. They don't care." I said, repeating that they didn't care about him. I was sure about it but I couldn't feel any presence from the other hashiras nor from Kagaya.
"You're lying! I'm sure that they care!" He said, he was being delusional. He couldn't accept the fact that he was all alone, Kagaya might have cared for him but he only cared because Giyuu was a demon slayer.
"I'm not. They only cared for you because you became a hashira. Giyuu, if you didn't become a hashira or a slayer, who would care for you?" I asked him. The harsh truth of reality was accepting it and moving on.
"Well, Urokodaki-san would!" He insisted that someone would care about him. I couldn't believe my human side.
"He won't! He cared about you when the fisherman friend of his found you! No-one would care besides that doctor but he would probably have you in an asylum! There's many worlds, universes and times that no one cared for you!"
"No, I don't... I don't believe you! Someone will care..." He started to shed tears. He was trying his best not to cry. "Someone does care, someone will and would! You cannot convince—"
He passed out. He had now awaken, someone had either woken him up or he, himself, forced himself to wake up. Either way, I simply needed to make him know the true reality of his life.
Giyuu Tomioka's Point of View
I didn't believe that man, he didn't show any kind of compassion, kindness, affection or anything towards me. Oh wait, he didn't because he was my darkside—they would only make me think and feel horrible things.
"Tomioka!" I heard someone say my name. It was Rengoku from the voice and how cheerful and happy it sounded. I sighed and quickly changed into my uniform, placing my blade into its placeholder made in my belt.
"Tomioka!" Rengoku continued. I ran down the stairs and opened the door. "I wish to hang out with you!"
I nodded, I didn't mind since last time, no-one really said any negative things about me. "Of course, Rengoku." I answered.
"Let's go! My treat." He said as he grabbed my hand and started to drag me to the nearby town that was currently having a festival.
