Walking and Talking

Kinoko Komori's POV

We walk back to our dormitories as we leave the nurse's office. When I ask how he got injured, Shihai just tells me he got hit by a frisbee in the 1A dorms.

"I went to give Tokoyami something," He says.

"I still feel a little bad about the split gill mushrooms during the class vs class match, shroom," I laugh.

"You did amazing in that though." Shihai immediately puts his hands in his pockets and focuses his gaze on the floor.

I look up at him, puzzled. "What?"

"During the match, Yaoyarozo foiled Kendo's plan with all those goggles and disinfectants, but you thought quickly, not doubting yourself, which is the reason we won. You saved me then, remember? And look," He nudges me with a smile, "You did it again."

"I wouldn't call signing you out of Recovery Girl's office rescuing you, but thank you, for that shroomtastic compliment." I grin.

Shihai groans. "Mushroom puns, again?"

"C'mon, you know it's my thing, shroom." I toss my hair dramatically.

Kurorio attempts to copy my gesture, failing miserably. "Yeah, it doesn't work for me. Oh, we're here." He points to the door a few meters in front of us.

"I didn't even realize how far we walked. But," I scribbled my number on a scrap of paper, "in case you get hit by a frisbee again."

One Hour Later

I get a text on my phone.

I think I nailed the hair flip.

I grin and start typing. Oh really.

Shihai sends a video of himself sitting at his desk, attempting to flip his hair, but ends up knocking a water bottle off.

Not bad but you could add a little flare and less knocking into water bottles. I press send.

The flare WAS me knocking down the water bottle. He replies.

I snicker. I should send that to the group chat.

Oh god no.

I just realized something. Aren't YOU in that gc?

Mhm.

So I gave you my number and you already had it?

I wanted you to have your moment. I just know he was laughing when he sent that.

After putting down my phone, I started to reflect on the last couple of days. I realized that I hadn't felt this relaxed in a while. Whenever I'm around Shihai, I feel a sense of ease that I can't explain. Although we don't talk all the time, I feel more comfortable around him than anyone else at the moment.
