A Door Slams Into My Nose

Shihai Kurorio's POV

Saying that I was uncomfortable would be a drastic understatement. That phrase you have undoubtedly heard about that stupid fish out of water? I am that stupid fish. There is a reason fish tend to stay in water, it's their natural habitat. Mine is the crowd, the majority, and the shadows. The reason I'm here is an impulsive decision.

I reach into the deep pockets of my jeans, searching blindly for the letter I wrote on a whim. A couple of days ago, I went on one of UA's "team up" missions with Izuku Midoriya and Fumikage Tokoyami, with whom I have found a slight kinship. We were sent to the lair of the hero Odd Eye, where he revealed Izuko's All Might fanboy passion and my self-consciousness around girls, very dramatically and loudly. Although he didn't mention her name, Odd Eye and I knew exactly who he was talking about. Eventually, we left, and on the walk back, it was Deku who asked who I liked.

"...You know who Komori is, right?" I very reluctantly admitted

Tokoyami had no trouble remembering who she was.

"Ah, Shemage. A worthy adversary."

"She's the girl with the mushroom quirk, right? She uses her mushrooms in many ways, it certainly is a very versatile quirk..." Deku started mumbling to himself.

"You should tell her, Shihai," this is where Tokoyami and I are drastically different, "before the truth is apparent."

"The truth, huh..."

As I held the letter in my hands, his small remark kept echoing in my head. I struggled for a moment but then decided to slide the letter between the door and its frame. I had no intention of signing my name on that letter, so I got ready to leave and continue to remain anonymous.

At that moment, Komori opened her door more than a tad aggressively. Due to the way I was standing next to the wall, I used my quirk to transport myself into the shadow her door created in a split second. My head was not spared any pain when she slammed into me. Thankfully, she didn't notice me due to the shock of slamming into something. I dropped my lollipop wrapper with the sudden contact of me and the door. Shit, that hurt.
