A couple of minutes later

You are in the kitchen. Busy, cleaning up all the dishes. It feels like the number of plates left to scrub is doubling each time you take one away. You feel like you've been standing there for an entire night already. It's exhausting. Why would Shadis put you up to that for such a long time? You get it, you broke the rules and now have to take responsibility for your actions. But in this mass? You only broke a small little curfew. What's the big deal? You draw your attention back to your duty and look up.

Just above the sink - where you wash the dishes - is a beautiful, large window. Looking through it, you have a stunning view of the woods. The tall, dark trees spiking out of the ground and the bright moonlight shining through it's branches. You take in the scenery, while continuing to scrub the last plate of your pile. Taking the brown cloth on your right, you dry the silverware and put it away in the cupboard. But just as you turn around, your heart almost stops.

There is a mysterious shadow standing in the doorway to the mess hall. It takes you some time to adjust your eyes, but when you get used to the darkness it is clear who is paying you this nightly visit.

No other than Captain Levi himself.

"Jesus- Oh look who it is. Humaniy's strongest gracing me with his presence.", you say in a sarcastic manner.

"Cut the crap, brat. I'm just here to get some tea. Don't get ahead of yourself.", he bluntly answers not even looking at you.

The corporal walks over to a small, wooden drawer. He opens it to reveal a big variety of teas. You can't help but stare in awe. It's been so long since you last drank tea. You didn't even know that this drawer existed. But surely they aren't just giving tea out to cadets. Quietly, you observe as Levi goes through each type of tea, being hesitant on which one to choose.

"I'd take green tea if I were you.", you blurt out, not thinking first before speaking up. You internally scold yourself. But now that you started this conversation you might as well keep it going so that it won't be awkward.

"You know, in case they have it here.", you add, finishing your sentence.

The Captain's eyes slowly shift their attention over to you and you feel your face getting slightly hot.

"What makes you think you can talk to me?"

"Oh, no I was just- nevermind", you begin to stutter but stop yourself mid sentence.

What is going on with you? Why are you so nervous all of a sudden? No, he can't make you nervous. You have to much pride. Him being able to have this effect on you is making you look weak and you are not having it. By now he has one eyebrow risen at you, clearly confused because of your sudden shift of confidence. You clear your throat and look back at him, changing your look to a more confident smile.

"Just wanted to share my opinion, that's all.", you innocently smile at him.

"I don't remember asking for your opinion. Besides, green tea is not even an option.", he replies in a monotonic voice while grabbing a bag of black tea.

"Black tea? Ugh, seriously Captain that is just disgusting. Please tell me you are at least drinking it with honey." You scrunch up your nose at the thought of the taste of black tea.

The bitterness always made you gag. You remember your mother always drinking it and telling you that it gives her great energy in the morning. One time you accidentally drank it as a kid, mistaking it for your hot chocolate. It was so disgusting, that even the slightest thought of it now makes you internally gag all over again.
