ANYA
What?
My mind went blank. My tongue silent and cursed.
......
......
What just happened?
...
"Look what you did!" Emile yelled, snatching the "weird music thing" from my hand.
"Yeah, get out of here, you freak!" Ewen glared at me like daggers struck into my eyes.
I retreated, feeling Father's presence somewhere in this room. I let him down...again!
Father must have left, though, since I couldn't read anything that resembled his complicated thoughts.
"Anya!" Becky suddenly came running towards me, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Why are you crying?"
I hadn't realize I was crying. But now that she had mentioned, I felt more tears dripping down, hiccuping my pain out from my throat.
"What happened?" Becky looked at me with sympathy.
"Anya wants to go home." I cried out.
"We can't, or you'll get a Bolt. Let's just get back." She patted on my back, her touch gentle and light.
"No!" I sniffed. "Anya wants to be anywhere but the school!"
"Hmmmm...how 'bout the courtyard. I think we can do 10 minutes without being late. I think."
"That can do."
At least I didn't end up with a tantrum. The last thing I wanted was to earn another Bolt and disappoint Father even more. Of course he was a liar, but I trusted him more than anyone in my entire life.
It came down to my apology to Sy-on Boy. Now, I could've just went for the "I'm sorry", and then leave immediately. But little old me decided it was a good idea to cry in front of three of the most popular guys in our class, actually no, it was in front of everyone in the cafeteria, and it was just so I could be friends with a brat.
Yeah, I can see how this plan was flawed.
It all came down to that face when Sy-on Boy when I finally blurted my apology.
"Anya's sorry for hitting you!" I remembered myself saying.
I cringed at the thought.
"Seriously, what happened?" Becky asked again once we sat down on the bench next to the "water shooting structure".
"Sy-on Boy happened." I mumbled. "Anya tried to apologize, but it didn't work."
"Why'd you even apologize for hitting him? That boy is so stuck up, he deserved it!"
"B-but, Anya doesn't want him to hate her. No..."
"Fine. But you can't make everyone like you."
After that incident, Sy-on Boy was sure to hate me. Or even loathe me. That was why he ran off all of a sudden. He hates Anya so so so much.
"Come on." Becky patted my back. "Cheer up, let's just enjoy the view."
As Becky patted my back, trying to comfort me, I couldn't help but feel a bit better. We sat on the bench, and I looked around at the courtyard. It was really pretty, especially the water shooting structure in the middle. It was much more fun because the water shot up in different patterns, sometimes high, sometimes low. The sun was shining, making the water drops look like little sparkles flying in the air.
