Remus loved the warm days at Hogwarts. Watching his friends chase each other around, throwing eat slug spells at each other. He wished it was always like this.

He loved school but when he was on the verge of a full moon nothing made him feel better than his friends.

Sirius ran over to Remus. Leaving James and Peter to their games. He was yelling "Mooooony" as he landed on the seat next to him.

"What is it Sirius? You look like you've just run a marathon."

"Well excuse me for getting winded after a very intense game of who eats dirt first."

"Hah. Winded. You look dreadful"

Sirius scoffed "I never look dreadful."

Remus smiled, "Alright I admit it. You always look great."

"Exactly. Anyway, I came over because I picked up something for you in hogsmead."

"Really?" Remus' face dropped. "it's not more hair dye is it. Because I will not be dying my hair for you"

Sirius grabbed Remus' hair and shook it around. "Awww don't worry I wouldn't dare ruin that beautiful hair of yours."

It was moments like these that Remus wondered if things could be different between him and Sirius. Could they be more than friends one day. He never let himself think to much about it. Just in case it never happened. He wanted to be his friend over anything and if Sirius didn't' feel the same way...well maybe it wasn't meant to be.

"Look I know the full moon is coming up. So I went ahead and bought you some chocolate" Sirius pulled out two chocolate bars from his pockets. "I know there a little squished, but it's the best I could do"

Remus didn't mind. All he could do was smile down at the chocolate. It was his favorite kind. And Sirius had remembered.

Remus couldn't keep his eyes off Sirius when he said. "You remembered these were my favorite"

"Of course, you only wrote me about your new favorite chocolate almost all summer."

Remus looked back down at the chocolate. "Huh I guess I did"

As the boys walked down the hallway towards the Gryffindor common room they could see Marlene walking towards them.

"hey losers. What are you up to?"

"Oh you know the usual," james said "How's Lilly? Has she been talking about me? I have been perfecting my hair all summer to look good for her."

Marlene laughs. "It looks the exact same"

"Exactly. It was perfect before and it's perfect now."

"Full of yourself aren't you Potter?" Lilly said from behind us

"Oh Lillypad I didn't see you there. How are you doing? Want to spend time with me? Go on a date? Get married?"

"Really James married? Were only 17"

"That's not a no," James said with a big smile on his face

"Look I only came over here to say that McGonagall is looking for you Remus. Said it's urgent."

Urgent. That didn't sound good. Maybe Remus shouldn't have gotten ahead of himself. This year might turn out to be crazy after all.

"Alright. Boys don't do anything I wouldn't while I'm gone."

"Can't promise that Moony," Sirius said

Remus laughed. Who was he kidding? If he had his friends this year couldn't be so bad. Maybe what McGonagall had to say was just about his prefect duties. Probably just two fourth years found in the broom closet again.

Remus would end up being so very wrong. This wasn't going to be about prefect duties. It was about someone he cared about so much about. The person he would have died for. And the news would break him.
