I had woken up and my body was on a mattress. I didn't want to open my eyes. I felt fine, I know everything's healed because I've regained feeling everywhere. My hands rubbed into the blanket on me. I opened my eyes and sprinted right up, no one was in sight. I was in the hospital, oficiarse I was. I looked around, and then tried to get out of bed. It was painful. It hurt so bad. Sometimes when I was fully healed the bruising still stays and I would say my whole lower body experience stabbing pain whenever I tired to put weight on my feet. I would touch the cold hard floor and pain radiated up till my thigh. The door swings open and the nurse gets taken aback.
"No stay in bed!" She rushed over and swung my legs back into the bed before grabbing the blanket and re tucking me in.
"I'll call the doctor and your family, just sit tight." She said before leaving the room.
The IV in my arm brought me back to life, I felt hydrated and awake. It was the first in a long time where I felt warm and dry, not covered in blood. My breathing slowed and my head hit the pillow, I didn't have to time to think before I fell asleep again.
-
I got woken up by voices, multiple of them. My eyes readjusted to the blinding lights in the room and I ignored everyone but the nurse by my side checking my vitals on the machine.
"Have you seen Theo?" I asked and the nurse looked over to me., the room fell silent.
"Theo Raeken was found a couple miles from you a couple hours after you were found. He's a few rooms down." She informs.
I sit up and try ti swing my legs over the side of the bed to get up but the nurse gently pulled me back.
"Sweetly you have to be in wheelchair from now on."
I looked annoyed, she knew all I wanted to do was to get up.
"Selena?" Melissa's voice croaked.
I looked up finally, at the seats across from my bed in the room. Where Melissa, Scott, and Jason all sat.
I tried to smile for them but it didn't feel like I was smiling. Suddenly my face was buried into Melissa's neck as she engulfed me into a hug.
Scott's head was leaned back and his mouth was open as he as he snored.
Jason had walked up waiting for his turn to hug me.
"Selena." He said as he hugged me after Melissa.
"How do you feel?" He pulls away from the hug and takes my hand into his.
"Okay." I shrugged.
Everything was excruciating to be awake for. When Scott woke up he looked at me with the most worried look, the doctor came in and told me everything I can and can't do. The police came in and everyone had to leave the room, except for my doctor. Scott stared at me through the window, listening in.
"What day is it?" The doctor asked, adjusting the pen in her hand to be able to write.
"I don't know." I shrug.
"Do you know how long you were gone?" She scribbled on her clipboard.
"A week?" I guessed.
"One month." She looked up to see if I would react.
"Did you see who took you?" The police intervened.
"You have to ease into it." The doctor whispered to him.
"I wasn't taken." I shake my head.
"We found your car abandoned by the Meadow Woods."
I squint to read his name tag and think of what to say.
"My car ran out of gas, you saw that right? My car was locked and everything because I went to walk back but I got lost." I told.
"Why didn't you tell anyone? Why didn't you call anyone? Selena, if you are covering up for someone we need to know." Parrish sat down beside the doctor and by my bed.
"Were you alone?"
"I was at first then I found Theo, he knew where I liked to drive to get my mind off of things." I answer, glancing at Scott who nodded and started to walk away.
"So why didn't you guys come back? I don't get how you guys didn't use your phones?"
"Mine was already dead before I got there. Theo had fallen, that's how I found him I heard someone in the distance and he fell. Right in his phone which broke. So then we were both lost. We didn't have clothes because we got wet from a river and were scared we were gonna get sick when it was cold at night. We found an old shed and stayed there. I got tired of waiting for someone to find us so I ran out, Theo tried to follow me. I found the road and almost got completely ran over." I caught my breath and then met eyes with the officer.
"Can I see my family now please?"
The doctor looked over at officer Parrish and then back at me.
"If it's too painful to walk you use crutches or the wheelchair. Don't force it, you have severe bruisings. Also ice baths for no more than 15 minutes can relieve the pain and help reduce the bruisings. We recommend you get back in contact with your therapist, it can be traumatic being lost especially when you thought the time was significantly shorter than it was."she finished writing on the board and then stood up, setting the clipboard in the bin attached to the wall with my other information.
"Well I'm going to talk to Theo and we won't have a problem if both your stories line up." He gestures for Melissa to come inside and she does.
Once they left Melissa nervously looked at me.
"Jason wants you to stay with him until you are fully recovered. Scott can stay over and help but since I need to work overtime Jason doesn't want you home alone."
"Okay." I nod.
"I'm glad you're okay." She held my hand.
"And a heads up." She looks back at Jason talking to the doctor outside of the room.
"Chad's staying with Jason. He said he wouldn't leave until he knew you were okay." She whispered.
