Daryl's POV:

I was getting ready to leave for the supply run rick and I were going on, I was reading over the list of things Denise had written out for me. But there was something that caught my attention that I wanted to get cleared up over. I spotted Denise walking towards me, "Hey," I greeted, walking over to her. "yes?"

"this thing at the bottom right here. You're talking about the drink, right?"

"I am, but...."

"it's not medical." I added on.

"No I drew a line between the important stuff and that."

"Just figured if you saw it."

"All right."

"Anything remotely medical is a priority and food, maybe even food before medicine and gas or batteries or books for the kids or clothes, maybe something you and your wife's baby- it's just if you see it, if it just happens to, you know, be right there." She continued to ramble on.

"You like it, right?"

"No, I don't drink pop."

"The hell is pop?"

"oh I'm originally from Ohio."

"why you want it?"

"Tara was talking about it in her sleep, I think."

"either she likes it, or she doesn't, but if she likes it, it'd be a really nice surprise. I'm not good with that kind of stuff."

"Me neither." I sighed, now contemplating on trying to do something similar for Val. I mean the woman is literally carrying our baby through a world as shitty as this. She deserved more than what I was already giving her. I've realised this now. "And she and heath are going on that two week run. I just thought it would be a nice going-away present." Denise stated, continuing to ramble on.

"just uh don't go out of your way. And if it gives you any trouble..."

"I won't."

"okay good cause it's not important. I should've said so instead of just drawing a line." Last things I heard Denise say as I finally walked away from her, getting more out of her than I originally intended to. Next stop was Val.

**

There she was, looking beautiful as ever. Wearing one of my shirts, since not many of hers fit her anymore and yet she still managed to look so effortlessly gorgeous. She truly was completely out of my league. I stood there, so far into my own thoughts I didn't realise that I had been staring at her the entire time until her attention was now solely on me. "Is there something on my face I don't know about or something?" She questioned, subconsciously running her hand over her face. "Nah, just admiring ya while I can." I smirked, walking over to her, pulling her close to me the moment I was in front of her. "who are you and what have you done with Daryl Dixon?" She laughed, tilting her head back so that she could look up at me. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"I just don't recall you having this much game." She teased, with a goofy smile on her face. This had been the happiest I have gotten to see her be in a long time. "I wouldn't be so sure about that sunshine."

"Oh really why's that huh?"

"I only speak the truth ya know dare," she giggled, with nothing but pure joy to be seen behind her bright blue eyes. "well that's just it. It's not the truth sunshine." I chuckled, watching the fake offended look take over her face. "Oh really." She scoffed jokingly, shaking her head at me. Making me smile. Something she's always managed to make me do. I've never been this happy in my entire life. And despite how shitty this world is, everything just feels so normal with her. She gives me a reason to be happy, when I never truly had that.
