Claire's POV
--

It was Friday afternoon and we had just finished school. During History class, Derek had asked Tori and I to meet him after school at the Hale House to find out what type of kitsune we were.

We had already started walking through the forest to the Hale house, when we heard someone call our names.

"Claire! Tori! Wait up!"

It was none other than the infamous Stiles Stilinski and beside him, the tall awkward Brit, Isaac Lahey.

We paused, taking a break, and waiting for the boys to catch up.

"Hey," Isaac said walking up behind Stiles.

"What's up, guys?" I greeted. "Why are you here?"

"We're here to make sure Derek doesn't make you do anything stupid," Stiles laughed.

"What? It's not like he's going to make us run through fire," Tori laughed.

--

"Alright, first I want you both to run through fire," Derek said pointing to his dining room.

"Are you crazy?!" I practically screamed.

"Yeah!" Stiles agreed with matching enthusiasm, "Why would you light a perfectly good dining room on fire?"

"Well in his defense, it was already pretty burnt," Isaac reconciled.

Derek gave Isaac a quick short glare.

"Sorry," He mumbled.

"I told you he was going to make you do something stupid!" Stiles exclaimed while pacing in circles.

"Well, if you are a Fire Kitsune, the fire will actually make you stronger and not burn you. If you're not, I can probably heal you," Derek stated.

"Probably?" Isaac repeated, then turned to Tori, "You don't have to do this if you don't want to."

"No, I like fire," Tori murmured. "When I was younger, I used to light things on fire for fun."

Stiles raised an eyebrow, "I'm like two hundred and five percent sure that's considered arson."

Derek frowned and crossed his arms, "My family burned to death in a fire."

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at him.

"... What..." Isaac looked scared.

"Anyways, who wants to go first?" Derek said, quickly changing the topic.

"Uh, not me," I mumbled.

He smiled, "Great, Claire first! Take off your shoes. The fire has to touch your skin."

"Does pain bring you joy?" I retorted, taking my shoes off.

"Well I mean, look at the guy, he's probably a sadistic little shit. Kinky and everything," Stiles laughed, analyzing Derek.

"Yeah... you would know," Isaac mumbled in a low hushed voice.

"What?" Tori asked.

"nOTHING."

I laughed nervously and cautiously walked towards the fire and reached my hand out to touch it.

Stiles covered his eyes, "YIKES."

I felt the heat of the fire before it came with in five inches of my hand. I could feel the pressure and tension of everyone in the room. I closed my fist, then pointed my index finger out. I winced and reached for the flame.

A flame touched my hand, "Ow, shit!" I said pulling my hand back.

Stiles ran up to me, "Oh god, you have a burn. Derek. Fix it."

He laughed, "Its just a small one, she'll be fine. Tori, you're next."

Tori sighed, "Alright." She took off her vans and began to walk towards the fire.

"Oh, god," Isaac said, "Derek, I swear to god, if she dies. I will kill you."

Derek shrugged, "I'd like to see you try."

Tori reached out and poked the fire hesitantly, "Oh, wow that didn't hurt."

She then commenced to walk straight into it.

"Are you alright?" Isaac called.

"Yeah. I think so. It actually kinda feels... good."

"Well I mean your eyes are glowing red, soo..." Isaac responded with a smile. "Its kind of attractive."

Derek smiled and said, "Isaac save your hormones for later... Tori is most definitely a Kasai Kitsune. She is the Fire Fox Spirit."

After the fire test, we tried summoning the dead - which definitely was not for me. I had to sit still for fifteen minutes mumbling words in ancient Japanese - which might I add sounded like I was the old asian lady who owned that noodle shop in Chinatown.

After summoning the dead, we checked to see if I was a Kawa Kitsune, or in English, a River Fox.

"So what you're trying to tell me is that I should drown myself? I asked dubiously.

"Pshh, noo. I'm just saying, we're going to hold you underwater until you're forced to inhale in the river. Your lungs should fill with water. If your lungs continue to work, you're a Kawa Kitsune."

"Hey Derek? Big Bad Wolfe? That's called drowning," Stiles informed him.

After that failing, I was soaked and almost completely sure I was just a human and they had made a mistake.

"I give up! Maybe Tori's aura was just rubbing off on me."

Derek sighed, "At least let me try one more test on you."

I nodded, "Alright, fine."

Derek pulled me into a field behind his house. The field had absolutely no trees, but was over grown with tall grass. The sun was directly over me and the wind started to pick up.

I smiled, I had always liked the wind.

"Make a tornado in your hands," He stated frankly.

I started to spin in circles, screaming, "TORNADO!!"

"That is not what I meant," Derek said raising his voice so that he could be heard.

"Well, you didn't exactly tell me how." I answered.

"Hold your hands out and think of a small tornado in your hands. Its pretty simple." Derek said frustrated.

"I don't see you with a tiny tornado in your hand." I responded.

"Just shut up and try it."

"Okay but its dumb."

I closed my eyes and concentrated on my surroundings. I imagined a small tornado spinning in my hands. The wind began to pick up around me, causing a chill to go down my spine.

"Oh shit! Isaac! Look Claire is doing it!" Stiles practically screamed. "She's a Kaze Fox thing. THATTA GIRL."

I opened my eyes to look at my hands. I was literally holding a tiny tornado.

"Duuude!" I exclaimed, "Hey, are my eyes red like Tori's?"

Tori smiled, "No, They're actually a fluorescent purple."

"See, I told you that you were both kitsunes," Derek smiled, "Next week, we work on controlling all your powers."
