Evora left yesterday. I wasn't there to see her leave, and I doubt Isadora did too. She left in a hurry, not even being able to tell her kids goodbye. It was never explained why she had to leave, but it seems like an emergency. Either way, it's not like it matters much.

In a few hours, we'll be setting off to the royal palace. Elliot is staying behind to take care of the estate. I did say he could come with us, but he insisted on keeping his duties. It would just be me and Isadora at the ball.

Knock knock

"Come in," 2 maids entered the room. They're here to prepare Violette for the ball. I've already got my dress, all I need to do is to let them do their work "Well girls, what are you waiting for?" I smiled as they rushed over right on queue.

Being the daughter of the viscountess is the best. Having servants follow your orders is amazing. Not to mention all the other benefits.

The 2 of them make quick work of dolling me up. My hair was combed till soft, the way they did my makeup was painting a canvas. And the best part of it all was getting in my dress.

I spent hours deciding on the perfect dress to wear. Hell, maybe I put too much effort into choosing.

One of the maids brought out the dress. The fabric was a brilliant amber, and the skirt flowed down, hovering just above the floor in an elegant manner. The sleeves itself resemble transparent waves of gold. The heels I was going to wear were beige, with the heels themselves being 2 inches long. I had a pair of pastel yellow gloves prepared, as well as an assortment of jewelry.

I put them on, and stood in the mirror to admire Violette's appearance.

"My lady! You look dazzling!"

"Kya! Anything you wear compliments your beauty wonderfully!"

Both the maids express in glee. Not that I blame them. Frankly, with what I see in the mirror, I completely agree with them.

Violette looks absolutely beautiful right now. To think someone as beautiful as her was a background character.

"You girls did an amazing job," I smiled warmly before dismissing the girls

"You girls did an amazing job," I smiled warmly before dismissing the girls. I spend some more time looking at the mirror. I have to make sure I look absolutely flawless. If I want to meet the male leads at the ball, I cannot look less than 100% perfect.

I closed my fist in determination. I'm ready for my departure, all I need to do is to wait for Isadora to get ready. Man, I can't wait to see her.

Spinning my heels, I head out of my room. Upon exiting, I was surprised to see Elliot. It seemed he just got here and was about to knock on my door. "Good evening my lady, allow me to escort you to the carriage," Elliot bows, his sapphire brooch glistening. I smile, offering my hand to him "Very well, Elliot." He took me to the front of the estate where the carriage was waiting for us.

The night sky above the estate was magnificent. Stars littered the darkness up, it was like a canvas came to life. I stood under that night sky, admiring the beauty of this world.

"Ah, Miss Isadora. You've arrived," Elliot spoke up. I turn around, trying to see Isadora. The moment I saw her, my jaw dropped.

What did I say about the night sky? Whatever it was, it couldn't compare to her. Her dress was the same as described in the novel. Her mint-colored ball gown flowed down to her ankle. Long loose sleeves with a top that covers her neck. Her hair was the same as it was, and she didn't put on any jewelry or makeup. And yet, she still looks dazzling.

Ah, that girl looked like a work of art. If the sky was a canvas, then this girl is a painting. That's the protagonist for you, alright.

Isadora seems nervous, avoiding making eye contact with me

Isadora seems nervous, avoiding making eye contact with me. She slowly approaches the carriage, the sound of her heels getting louder. Elliot opened the carriage door, to which I entered. Isadora followed right after, though a lot slower than I did.

"Have a wonderful evening," Elliot smiles, before bidding us farewell.

The carriage begins moving. Our journey to the castle had begun. I look over to Isadora. Studying her expression, I can tell something was distressing her. Her hands were tightly clenched into fists. Her eyebrows were lowered, and she was frowning uncomfortably. Her eyes were focused on the ground as she became stiff.

"Your shoes are hurting you, aren't they?" I lean against the window of the carriage, my chin resting on my palm.

Isadora looks up at me, surprised by my question. She didn't say anything, only nodded. I know her heels were hurting her from the book, but I suppose to her that question came out of nowhere. We sat in silence for a few seconds while I thought about what to say. Right now, her feet are hurting her, and at the ball it'll get worse.

I look out the window, it'll be a while before we arrive at the palace. Turning to Isadora, I propose to her an idea "Do you want to switch shoes?"

Ever since coming into this world, I've worn a lot of different, exquisite clothes and shoes. Heels were something I wore a lot, I've become very used to how they feel. But man, these ones that Isadora wore hurts like hell. It feels like I'm walking on eggshells.

Her shoes were too small for me, and they were too high. I'm not sure what Isadora was thinking of choosing them. Sure they looked nice, but dear god she should have chosen a different shoe before she even exited her room.

The carriage finally came to a halt. As I walked out of the carriage, the shoes stung my heels. I take a deep breath, clenching my fist to distract myself from the discomfort. Isadora followed right after me, my back turned to her.

"Whoa..." I heard her behind me. I turn around to see her face. Bewildered and amazed, her eyes fixated to whatever was in front of her.

My eyes followed, looking ahead to see the royal palace of Cresia. Dazzling, its architecture is a feast for the eyes. Bright light from the windows illuminates gracefully and shines through the night. The palace was tall, seemingly reaching to the skies above.

"Whoa..." I mimicked Isadora. So this is the place where I'll meet the male leads. What a place to start the plot.
