Giving everyone a little closure.😊
It was almost midday. They both never stayed in bed this late. Karim had been right after all. Ruling did take its toll. And they weren't even King and Queen yet.
But Zaira knew any day now Karim would go into his father's office and come back a different person. He acted indifferent to it but Zaira knew. She knew it was something he was willing to work his whole life for. He didn't want to fail his people. Or his parents.
They both had one fear in common though. How were they going to fill their shoes? Or even hope to surpass them. They had done everything. Everytime Zaira looked at Karim's mother the only word she could think about was "perfect". That woman was a role model.
Zaira turned her head to look at a sleeping Karim. He looked so peaceful in his sleep.
The past year and half had been...difficult. For both of them. Adapting to their new lives and schedules. The Habiba and Nick issue. Samia's continuous suspensions. And two miscarriages.
Zaira had found out she was pregnant during Habiba's wedding. That wedding had been...something. But that was a story for another day. When she told Karim her suspicions, he wasted no time in going to confirm it with their doctor. It was true. They
were expecting. Everyone was happy. That was until 3 weeks later. She knew something was wrong. She could feel it before it was confirmed by the doctor.
She was right. They lost their first Angel that day. Karim was with his father in another Emirate. But she wasn't alone. She had never felt such pure love before from people she was once supposed to hate. She would survive. They'd be okay.
3 months later she found out she was pregnant again.(Chew on that, IVF and fertility clinic)
This was the one. She was sure of it. They both were. They had names in mind. Samia had picked nicknames for her new sibling. Maruf was going to be a big brother. (They still hadn't told him Zaira wasn't his mother)
Everyone was happy again.
They lost their angel a week before the end of the first trimester. Like deja vu, Karim was with his father. This time in another country. That was the first time she felt herself hate Karim. She wouldn't call it hate. Hate was a big word. And it wasn't necessarily at Karim. It was at the throne.
Karim should have been with her both times. But he wasn't. She couldn't complain. She knew what she had signed up for. But she just couldn't hide her anger anymore.
The had a huge fight. She did most of the fighting in her opinion. All Karim could do was look defeated. Karim slept in his office that night. That was the first time they had slept apart from each other.Samia also had a three different fights in school in one week. She wouldn't tell anyone why. They didn't suspend students in TRS. Because Royal kids barely fought. But Karim asked for her to be suspended. The first student to be suspended and at only 7 years old. She didn't even understand the implication. Until Karim put a foot down and reprimanded her getting her to tears and running to her room.
That night is now one of the few nights Zaira would never forget.
She usually never woke up at night to use the bathroom but that night it felt like she just had to.She realized the shower was running. Was Karim having a bath? At 2am? They didn't have sex or anything. They hadn't since their huge fight a few nights ago. It didn't sound like someone was actually taking a shower. It just sounded like a lot of taps where open and running.
She opened the door to the bathroom slowly. The taps in the sink were running as well as in the tub. Where was Karim?
She looked towards the shower stall. It was translucent. Karim had his back to the glass and seated on the floor, water falling by his feet. Something he never ever did.
