Morax did not sleep that night.

And neither did Ajax.

They couldn't. Especially after all that happened.

For different reasons, but reasons nonetheless.

The screams were the worst part of it.

The neverending screams .

Morax would not stop screaming.

Ajax could not count on one hand the amount of times he had been woken up by his screams.

Gnawing screams that reminded Ajax of the days he spent on the battlefield.

Days where he would watch as his comrades would be speared open by countless weapons, and was unable to help them as they screamed and clawed towards him.

He couldn't remember how many people he had seen calling out for help, as he was forced to press on for her Majesty.

He couldn't save them.

Her Majesty's will was worth a million of their lives.

And they knew that.

The Tsaritsa's soldiers were trained to not be afraid of death and to accept it as an honor to give their life for the Tsaritsa.

But, even so, the human body was still built to survive .

Tartaglia remembered how the toughest of soldiers would scream and flail around as they succumbed to their injuries.

Their bodies wanted to live, even if they had accepted death.

He remembers the feeling of their sharp nails digging into his shoulder as they desperately clung onto life, the rancid smell of insides and blood, and the feeling of it all on his bare hands.

Ajax hated the feeling of blood in his hands, he despised it when he was little.

But, now, there was no longer disgust.

But rather, Ajax was comforted by the feeling of the blood as it dripped down his hands and dried onto his forearms.

The clawing sensation of Morax's sharp claws digging into his flesh were nothing but a bitter reminder of past times.

And even as his lover bit harshly into his shoulder, Ajax's warm blood filling his mouth and dripping down his shoulder; he felt nothing but a dull sense of dread.

But nothing compares to the first time it happened.

Morax was still crying by the time Ajax had pulled him along towards their bed.

And, after a long time of reassurance, Morax had managed to become comfortable enough to the point where he could fall asleep.

The breeze was so refreshing, and even if he occasionally shivered, the warmth of Morax's arms around his waist, and the warmth of his breath against his back were enough to let him settle down.

Not to mention the comfortable bedding he had laid across the both of them.

Xiao was next to them, clinging tightly to Ajax's leg, as he rested his face against his stomach.

It wasn't the ideal sleeping position, but Ajax had long since become accustomed to the both clingy idiots that clung onto him.

He watched Xiao for a bit, seeing the boy's face slowly change over time was quite the shock for Ajax.
