Chapter 8 "uh oh"

After a few weeks of recovery,  I finally was able to start going on missions again. I hated that I had to go through recovery training with kocho but I had to do it anyway.

I was walking around the butterfly estate when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry.." I muttered quietly.

"Watch it." they said coldly. Untill they realize who I was.
"Oh I'm so sorry." he quickly apologized.

I get a good look a them and realize that they were Sanemi's younger brother.

"Aren't you Sane- I mean, shinazugawa-san's younger brother?" I asked him. He looked at me shocked.
"How did you know that?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowed. "San- ahem,, shinazugawa-san talks about you to me a lot." I corrected myself, but I think he caught it.

"Why do you keep calling my brother by his first name?" he asked. "Why do you keep changing the subject?" I fired back. He looked away defeated.

After a minute of silence I spoke up, "So, genya, right?" I asked to make sure I was correct.
"Yeah that's me." he answered. "Well it was nice to finally meet you. And just so you know, Sanemi loves you a lot." I smiled softly at him, leaving him shocked as a walked away.

I arrived back at sanemi's estate and unlocked the door. I closed the door behind me and take my shoes off at the door. I place my Nichrin sword down on the table.
I walk to sanemi's room to look for him but he wasn't here. 'Where could he be? Does he have a mission today? Did he leave without telling me?' I thought.

The thoughts kept getting worse. I was laying down on the futon, begging for the thoughts to stop, because maybe he had a mission and couldn't tell me? I reassured myself but it only seem to make it worse.

After 30 minutes I heard the door click open. I quickly get up and run to see who it was, not caring what I looked like. I peaked around the corner only to see sanemi.

I quickly run at him and jump on him making him tumble to the floor.

"FUCK!" he yelled at me. And got up and I sat up staring at him from the floor.
"Sorry.. I just really missed you.." I quietly said looking at the ground.
"It's whatever! Leave me alone!" he stormed off into the bedroom leaving me confused.

'He hates you..'
'No he's just upset..!'
'He doesn't love you anymore'
'Shut up!'
'You're getting angry cause I'm right.'
'..'
'Accept it! He hates you! He doesn't love you, he was only dating you out of pity!'
'..thats not true.. He wouldn't..'
'Hehehe..oh but he would.'
'..'

I noticed that a tear drop hit the floor. I wiped my eyes and grabbed my hoari and shoes. I walked out of the house to get my mind off of it. But.
Walking turned into speed walking
Speed walking turned into jogging
Jogging turned into sprinting
And sprinting turned into running.

I ran past the other hashiras leaving them all confused.
I came to a stop when I reached a cliff side. Where sanemi had confessed to me. I sat on the ledge, my legs dangling off the edge. I stay there for a few hours till I heard foot steps. I instantly got in a tree.

I relax a bit when it was just Mitsuri. She looked around with a worried look.

"Tomioka-san?" she called out. I jump off the tree not making a sound and poke her shoulder. She jolted and spun around so quickly.

"Jeez! You scared me!" she cried out.
"Oh! Are you okay tomioka-san? The hashiras an I saw you run past an it looked like you were crying!" she said, worried.

"I'm fine.." I muttered, looking away. She looked at me skeptical. "Did something happen with you and shinazugawa-san?" she asked. I flinched and she noticed.
"Something did happen! I'll best the shit ou-" I cut her off. "Nothing happened roji.." I say still not making eye contact.

"Something did happen!! You refuse to make eye contact with me! What happened?!" she pushed more.
".. He yelled at me.." I murmured quietly.
"I didn't hear it! Talk louder please!" she said, getting closer to me.
".. He yelled at me." I said little louder so she could hear.

..
...
"HE YELLED AT YOU?!?!" she screamed so loud that the crows flew away. She grabbed my shoulders tightly.
"I'll beat the living shit out of him! How dare he yell at you!" she rambled on

"He probably didn't mean it! He was probably upset from something that happened.." I gave an explanation To her so she's doesn't beat sanemi up

"That's not an excuse!" she huffed, she crossed her arms and looked away. "But I'll let it slide this ONCE." she glared at me. I nodded and start to walk away.

I get to sanemi's estate and open the door. I slide my shoes off and walk in the house more.
I see sanemi sitting on the couch sharpening his sword.
'Uh oh.' I thought

"H-hello s-sanemi.." I mumbled, looking away and quickly walking into the kitchen.
After a few minutes a feel rough arms snake around my waist.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier.." he said in a comforting voice.
I mumbled a quick okay, Still chopping up vegetables to make for sanemi.

"You wanna talk..?" he asked, pulling himself closer to me and putting his head on my shoulder. He stopped my hand from chopping and dragged me to the living room.

He sat me down and he sat down next to me.
"Look I didn't mean to yell at you earlier.. I was just upset about something.." he explained.
I looked at him with upset eyes(heheh orbs🌚 ifykyk)
Years start to well up in my eyes.
"Aw.. Don't cry, yuu." he opened his arms and I crawled into his lap. He wrapped his arms around me and comforted me.

"I thought you.. L-left me" I mumbled out.
"I wouldn't leave yuu," he said in a comforting tone. I smiled and hugged him tighter. But one thought came to my mind
"What made you so upset?" I asked him, not breaking the hug.

"A stupid demon.." he said, his tone changed slightly.
"What happened?" I asked, breaking the hug and looking at him.
"The demon brought up some stuff about my family." he explained. I let out a quiet 'ooh' and hugged him again.

We stayed in silence for a while the I broke the silence.
"By the way.. Be on the look out for kanroji-san" I said with a small smirk.
He mumbled a 'oh great' in a sarcastic tone.

I let out a giggle then we both eventually fell asleep in each other's arms
