The weekend had passed and another school week had begun. Elena couldn't stop worrying about what next step she should take, now that Damon and her know each other are vampires. She wanted to know who turned him into a vampire, how long he's been one, where he came from. All these questions swirled around in her brain, and before she knew it, she was already at the front of the school.
*Bell ringing*
"Ugh history class first? Yay me...." Elena grumbled to herself.
The teacher entered the classroom with a laptop and books in his hand, and just as he was about to close the door, a hand appeared, gripping onto the side.
"Ah, Mr Salvatore. Finally came to join us have you?"
It was Damon. He slid the door open, leaned against the wall and crossed his arms, dripping with charisma in all his bad boy glory. His leather jacket sitting firmly upon his shoulders that accentuated his broad back, his dark hair swept backwards so effortlessly. But it was his eyes, those piercing ice blue eyes that grabbed everyone's attention. The whole class was in awe. It was like Damon's presence was so attractive, it completely changed the mood of the classroom. The girls started to whisper and giggle to themselves while even the boys were mesmerised by Damon's appearance.
Elena looked up at him in surprise. For once, he actually came to class. She quietly chuckled to herself.
"Well, take a seat Mr Salvatore"
As he made his way inside the classroom, girls left and right started removing the backpacks off the seats next to them and making flirty eyes towards Damon. He relished in it, smirking at them as he passed by every row. Until, he made his way to an empty seat on the far left side by the window. Right. Next to. Elena.
Amidst the silent disappointment of all the girls in the class, Elena found this situation hilarious. She was surprised to see him, but even more surprised that he was actually trying to make an effort at school. She smiled to herself and went to open her textbook when she got interrupted-
"Psssst."
She looked around in confusion.
"Pssssst. Hey. Elena" It was Damon trying to call her attention.
Elena rolled her eyes and turned her head to see what he wanted. What she didn't expect was for him to be leaning over so far towards her. By the time they made eye contact, their faces were inches apart.
Damon noticed and pulled back in a hurry.
"Oh-uh, ehem, sorry...." Damon's face started to feel hotter. He couldn't understand why he felt so flustered being close to Elena's face. But he could feel the blood rushing to his cheeks. Panicked, he started playing with the tips of his hair to take his mind off how he was feeling.
Elena saw him suddenly pull back. She noticed his lips slightly pouted while he was fiddling around with his hair. It was so cute.
"I just wanted to borrow a pencil" He said smirking, switching back to his normal self and arrogantly snatching one of Elena's pencils off her desk.
"Hey! I didn't even say yes yet!" Elena giggled as she tried to snatch it back from him. Damon teased her, holding the pencil up higher and higher so she couldn't reach it.
"Damonnn.." She said with a sigh, almost giving up in trying to get her pencil back off him. Damon noticed her eyebrows would furrow slightly as she glared at him, and her cheeks would puff up in frustration as she tried pathetically to get the pencil back. He smiled and thought to himself-
"She's adorable"
"OKAY CLASS SETTLE DOWN...." The booming voice of Mr. Hicks startled everyone, including Elena and Damon.
As they settled into their seats, Damon flashed a mischievous smile at Elena one last time before twirling the stolen pencil in his hand. Elena smiled and rolled her eyes at him.
She wanted to talk to him more but the class had already started. So she tried mouthing at him the words that she wanted to say-
"I. thought. you. hated. school" She mouthed with a cheeky smile.
"Tshh" Damon chuckled through his teeth, smirking at Elena.
"Shut up" He teased, throwing the pencil onto her desk which made a very obvious clattering sound.
The teacher looked up from the board, confused as to where the noise came from. Elena sat there, stiffening her posture and holding her smile as best she could. The teacher disregarded it and looked back at the board. Elena turned towards Damon with a look as if she was annoyed but trying not to laugh at the same time. Damon grinned back devilishly. For the rest of the class, both kept stealing glances towards each other. Neither of them sure why their eyes naturally drifted towards the other, but neither wanted to stop.
*Bell ringing*
It was the break before gym class, and Elena went to her locker to grab her things. As she closed her locker door, she was startled by a figure standing next to her-
"Elenaaaaa..." someone whispered in her ear.
Elena jumped. She turned around to see who it was.
"OH MY GOD URGH DAMON!!" She said with an annoyed tone.
"Can you please stop doing that?!"
"Whyyyy? It's fun" Damon said smirking.
Elena looked at him jokingly with disapproving eyes.
*Sigh* "What is it now Damon?"
Just then, Damon snatched Elena's phone from her hand.
"Wha- hey! Not again-"
As Elena raised her arm to go get it back from Damon, he placed his finger on his lips as if to shush her.
"Ah tsk tsk tsk, just wait...."
Elena sighed as Damon started pressing random buttons on her phone. After a minute, he hands the phone back to her with a cheeky smile.
"Now.....you have my number" He said smirking.
Elena chuckled wryly.
"And why do I have it? May I ask?" She asked sarcastically.
"Just look out for a text later. I wanna meet up, after school"
"No Damon I-I can't stay out after school again, I have to go home and-"
He arrogantly places his finger on Elena's lips again, making her shush for the second time.
"Elena I know you won't say no to me so don't even bother" A sly smile appears on Damon's face.
Elena has nothing left to say. She just takes Damon's finger away from her lips and concedes.
*Sigh* "Fine. I can meet up later tonight after I drop by my house, deal?"
Damon smirks naughtily.
"Deal."
Elena was curious about why Damon wanted to meet up with her. A list of reasons started snowballing in her head, but she couldn't linger on them. Instead, she figured this was the perfect opportunity to ask questions of her own. Especially, she wanted to find out more about him - as a vampire.
