It was finally the end of the school day. Elena felt her heart beat a bit faster thinking of all the possible reasons Damon wanted to talk to her. She couldn't help but feel curious and excited at his invite. She felt her phone vibrate and looked down. A new message from Damon. Her eyes widened. It read:
'clock tower. 7pm.'
Elena felt a twinge of excitement.
She arrived at their meeting place. The Mystic Falls clock tower. A giant brick building in the centre of town that had been there since its founding. Elena had no idea why Damon wanted to meet up here of all places. She walked around for what seemed like ages and there was no sign of him. Confused, she dials his number. Then, she heard the faint ringing of a cellphone, she couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from. That's when she looked up at the sky and saw a pair of feet dangling over the tower's ledge.
It was Damon. He moved his head forward and looked down at Elena, smirking as he held his phone up showing that it was his phone that was ringing. Elena chuckled and shouted towards him,
"Whatcha doing up there?"
Damon cheekily grinned.
"Why don't you come up here and find out?"
Lucky for Elena, she was a vampire. With one swift jump, she had gone from the ground straight up to the clock tower's ledge in a matter of seconds. The view was stunning. The town lights were all glowing brightly down the streets, and the mountains and hills created elegant and distant silhouettes. The wind carried a calm breeze that flew through Elena's hair.
As she stood there on the ledge, she looked at Damon, casually leaning against the brick with his legs swinging off the edge in a careless manner. The breeze shifted towards Damon, flowing through his bangs and the soft dark locks of his hair. His icy blue eyes stared straight at Elena's.
"Well are you just gonna stand there and be creepy?"
Elena chuckled. As she made her way to him, suddenly the heel of her boot caught onto the groove of the rock and she almost slipped.
"woah-"
Like an instinct, Damon reached out his hand and grabbed hers. She gripped on tightly to Damon's fingers and started to regain her balance. Elena let out an embarrassed laugh.
"You know, we've got to stop doing this."
"Doing what?" Damon looked at her smirking, acting oblivious but he knew exactly what she was talking about.
"This whole-holding hands thing....I'm a vampire you know? I'm not gonna die even if I fall off this tower."
"And yet, you held on to me" Damon smirked.
Elena was taken aback. She didn't know how to respond so she quickly changed the topic.
"Um...soooo how long have you been a vampire?" She asked him.
Damon's face changed. He started looking off into the distance, as if he was reflecting on something.
"A long time..." He replied with a sigh.
He turned to face Elena, smirking while raising his eyebrow.
"You?"
"Oh um.....yeh I guess I've been around for a while too.."
"What, I don't get to know any more details about you little miss Creepy?" Damon joked sarcastically.
"Heh, you'll have to earn my trust first before I tell you any more."
